I’m trying to enjoy some of my hobbies - photography and watches - and be a good father. I don’t know if I'm doing it well, but I'm not that useless; at least I can act as a bad example.
Becoming a father of two forced me to stop my other passions for some years (alpinism, climbing, skiing…). I liked watches and other mechanical things since being a child. Also toyed with some cheap old eBay pocket watches lots of years ago, but had no money to spare on this hobby. So, being forced to stay home and acting as a father, I wanted a “dad’s watch“ and the search of it awake the passion for watches on me.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
I don’t remember, it would have been a flick flack or something similar. I remember also having a simple Casio too. But when I got married I bought my first mechanical watch, an Orient, and I used it for ten years on a row as a unique watch alternating with a Garmin for mountain adventures and training.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
I have two. My dad’s watch and the watch my wife gave me when we celebrated 10 years married. I’ll reveal which ones are and their history in special posts for them.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Run, you fools!! RUN!
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Not exactly a brand… seconde seconde
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
The Grial: Zenith Chronomaster Original. The chronograph is one of my favorite complications and the history, aesthetics and the movement of that watch connected to me.
The Holy Grial (impossible to obtain for me, but dreaming is free): Vacheron Constantin American 1921
