Ming, Mido, Montblanc and Moritz Grossmann. Not things I would typically go for but isn't Montblanc basically IWC nowadays?
Cartier’s model lineup is very stable over many years.
I'd argue the opposite. Cartier seems to be one of the worst when it comes to adding and removing not only references but entire collections of watches. Watch like the Drive, Roadster and many other had runs of less that 10 maybe even 5 years. Watches like the Santos and Tank have stuck around but even in those watches there have been many references that only had a year or two before getting the chop.
If you like the watch get it, if not don't do it.
But.
Being a very business minded individual who was raised Asian American, I always somewhat consider resale prices when buying watches. It's good to at least know if you're buying something that could be a bit more on the trendy side or a niche design what it would look like to move on the piece if your style or tastes so change. Would never let that be the main idea for a decision but is part of the decision. No matter what spending that kind of money in my mind will always be an investment, either good or bad it is what it is.
That being said it's too early to say for this watch in particular, if you look at numbers for the Yachtmaster rose gold, you will see that some precious metal Rolex's are actually available for below retail on a unworn/new gray market. Before the Cellini was discontinued it was also possible to find below retail or just around retail. Hard to tell which trend the 1908 will follow.
Therefore, as a watch enthusiast, I feel free to comment on somebody's watch if it catches my eye, because I know that sometimes that little compliment on a special piece can make our day a bit better to one of us.
I couldn't agree with this more. Everytime I see someone wearing something if I have a moment I try and stop and say even simple things like 'I like your watch'
I somehow have been fortunate to get compliments on my watches, mostly on watches I don't expect, I have a Timex Waterbury that gets alot of notice and also a Moonswatch Jupiter that gets commented on by both watch people and normal people.
I have a Nomos Club 703. Absolutely perfect daily watch for me, changes straps fairly often. At 36mm and manual wound it's super easy to wear and forget you have on. Waiting for a Zurich Worldtimer for my next Nomos. I like the looks of the Lambda a lot but for the price new pretty hard to justify in my opinion. Would probably consider a used Lambda since the price is typically nearly half the list price. Love the watches though!
Louis Erard is the brand that confuses me most. If you look at some of their older stuff that you can buy at sub $1.5k, it will absolutely blow you away. So much respect for their brand and what they do at their price.
