What's one watch from a mainstream brand that you were surprised to learn existed?

I was at a work event and I glanced at my colleagues' Aqua Terra, which was surprising in itself since I didn't peg him as someone who was into watches.

And then I noticed the seconds hand going tick... tick... tick.

That's when I found out that Omega made a quartz version of the Aqua Terra (since discontinued). That was a bit of a surprise for me, since I didn't know that they came with anything other than automatic.

Have any of you had similar revelations about a watch from a mainstream manufacturer?

Well, reportedly Prince Williams Omega Seamaster 300 is also a quartz, thats smth I didnt know they made.

Slightly off tooic my main wow watch moment was finding out that Junghans has a weapons/defence manufacturing arm, with the same logo. Whether you're a Bauhaus enthusiast or a mortar enthusiast, they got you covered.

The watch I have a hard time convincing others outside of the collector world existed is the Oyster Quartz

I never knew the Seiko Honda Supercub was a thing until WC

As a watch enthusiast I discover every day something new. But the most positive sureprise was to find out how well made Frederique Constant watches are, so I bought instantly one. Till them I ignored the brand. Now since this experienc I try to be more open for other brands.

Another more negative surprise was a visit on the Invicta (as I promissed to gave now every watch brand a chance)...only to find out that they had almost 3000 (!!!) different models....one even more uglier than the other. Almost 900 of which are pro masters :-).

And these are only male models. There are even hundrets and thousands more for females. Now I understand why they are so ugly under such a product policy. I guess they design everyday a new watch with chatgpd.

Damn, that's a diverse portfolio! Checked out their website and interesting that it even has a sustainability section. Haha!

Ooohhh they don't make any quartz models anymore no?

Lol I found out about that Seiko just a few days ago! Someone in our local Seiko club scored one from an AD here.

That case and integrated bracelet look good together! They should think about bringing this back given the resurgence of the 70s aesthetic.

Haha! Yes they do look like an AI designed them.

I wonder how many people they have in their design team though, and how they manage to manufacture and keep track of all these SKUs.

Looks like their approach is to make a watch for everyone.
