Dornbluth experience, anyone?

Hi, Gang, I'm considering saving a bundle for 18 months and having Dornbluth customize one of their lovely 38mm models for me.  Since it's a ton of dough (for me) and it would be fairly customized in terms of dial, indices, hands, and movement embellishment, I'm hoping some of you can relay your experiences with them.  What did you go with and why?  What did you like and/or not like about the experience?  Have you any advice for someone just starting out on a similar path?  Please let me know your thoughts, and of course, thanks in advance for your insight!

I was thinking something along these lines for design, but maybe more of a blue/black, with silver indices, hands and sub-seconds dial: https://www.instagram.com/p/CZEu0SSLCim/

Best Regards,

MK

Dornbluth!!  @HotWatchChick69 is right, I love my 99.1 and think it's a beautiful piece.  I would highly recommend it to you (but not to anyone else, I love that they fly under the radar and don't want them to get so popular that I lose my watch nerd cred from owning one...)

Re: process, it is definitely a small, family business, which has positives and negatives.  I was well taken care of and I definitely felt like my order mattered (and having watch #708 was cool vs. #510,708).  But I was confused when I didn't get an answer to a question for a while until they got back to me and said the whole company was away for holiday (which was ok once I knew, just was odd when it was radio silent while they were holding a bunch of my money).

The watch itself is outstanding.  Very clean with just enough "sizzle" to be memorable.  I went with the ceramic dial with engraved numbering and it is - and looks - VERY high quality.  I went blue dials which pop against the pure white dial and black numbers.  Open back is great, both beautiful and functional.  I am 100% a fan with absolutely no regrets.

I look forward to seeing your piece when you receive it, we'll start a (very small) crew of Dornbluth lovers within the WatchCrunch family!

Thanks so much for the reply, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear. Your comments are legit re their integrity and dedication to the craft, and I also love their relative anonymity.

Congrats on an amazing piece, and I am so glad to hear you love it. Your choices go so well together and it is gorgeous!  Their wait period is something like 14 months, so that should just about make my 50th. I look forward to comparing notes with you in 2 years! Lol  Cheers and thanks again.

Oh wow, good for them re: 14 months (I can picture a company rep reading this thread and being like "Screw this small and cool stuff, we want more $$$").  I think it was quoted 3-6 for me, maybe took a couple months longer but was well worth the wait.  Phenomenal unboxing process.  Have fun with it!

I have come close to ordering one, but I dislike that I have to go through a third party. One day I will own one, either way.
