Oris Big Crown Pointer Date. Lovely watch... piss poor strap!

Got this watch in May and I wear it regularly, I absolutely love it but the strap is dreadful! Got a shock just now when I took it off. So much play in the top strap, it was quite disconcerting.

Would expect better from Oris. Is it the stitching or has it just rotted.

By the looks of it, it's just delaminating. But up by the spring bar it's got a lot of play. Doesn't feel secure at all

Yup. My Alpina Diver came with a leather strap and was pretty much useless coming apart into two pieces. Same reason I'm not a huge fan of leather on divers or any watch that comes in contact with water.

·

That's terrible. Have you contacted Oris or the AD where you purchased it?

·

I would be changing that out before I wore it again.

Yeah I've put it in the box and won't be putting it back on till it's changed!

No but I will be! I just noticed it around the spring bar when I took it off this evening.

I knew about the delamination around the buckle but wasn't too worried about that in terms of the integrity of the strap. But now I've seen the spring bar area I'll not be putting it back on!

I feel for you, hope you get it sorted quickly without any issues. 👍

I agree, they look good when you first buy them. But asking for trouble down the line. I don't do anything too strenuous with this watch on so it is pretty disappointing

How often do you wear this and what’s the temp? I can only see this happening with daily use, in hot humid environments where you’re sweating alot.

·

Wow! Your sweaty wrist melts leather!!

·

Sheesh that thing holding in by a string! What the hell you doing in that bad boy laying block all day? 😅 nothing a quick strap swap can’t fix! It’s a magnificent watch though. Belated congratulations

·

Wow that's wild.

I mean I live in Scotland, not exactly famous for being a tropical paradise 😅 and I'm wearing probably 3 times a week on average.

Hardly! I run a hotel, so I'm on the go all day but it's hardly manual labour!

The picture maybe looks a little more dramatic than the reality. I think it's mainly superficial at the moment around the springbar, but it doesn't feel that solid.

Luckily hasn't detracted from the watch, I still love it very much. But would hate to end up resenting it because it fell off my wrist or something like that.

Yea for sure. Absolutely glad to hear you noticed the condition now and not only after the Watch flew off your wrist! That would have sucked! What strap is lined up for it next?

I'll probably go for something similar as I do like brown leather straps. But I'll get a good one for sure.

Luckily in the meantime I had this put away for a rainy day, and actually it's pretty festive looking so perfect timing!

Hey now! I like the temporary strap a lot for it though! Well done. It’s a very beautiful watch.

Please contact www.hoasavn.com to try it out. Their leather watch straps are quite good. 👍
