Help me pick a size for the legendary diver!

My wrist size is around 7,5 inches / 19 cm. I think I'm in the tweener zone regarding the U1 and U50. I know it's splitting hairs, but if there was a 42,5 mm version I'd buy that in an instant.

They both look good. It depends on whether you like to wear watches on the bigger or smaller side.

Personally, I like the proportions of the U50's dial a bit better, but it seems you can pull off the U1 with no problem.

·

Yes, this is something that surprised me, for some reason on the black bracelet they are very similar visually. On a strap the size difference seemed to amplify. In person I liked the U50 more when trying both on the bracelet, but on a strap the U50 felt visually too small, which is why I'm gravitating towards the U1. I want to be able to use any strap without feelings of insecurity.

Thanks, I usually prefer smaller watches for discreetness and comfort, but also appreciate that a tool diver can (and some would say, should) be on the larger side.

U1 is 44 mm and U50 is 41 mm. Thanks for your feedback, if that's your opinion then atleast the U1 perhaps isn't too large for me. Absolutely set on this design though.

·

I think either works...go with the one you like most

·

Problem is, looking at my wrist the smaller one feels better, but looking in the mirror it's the larger one😅

·

I also have a 7.5" wrist. I wear many 44mm watches including the Rolex Deepsea. I think they wear just fine.

·

I think sometimes as a watch community we make too big a deal over wrist/watch size. From the original pics, I though it was just the same watch twice. Both look great on your wrist — so buy whichever feels most comfortable on your wrist.

·

I had to vote U1. I think the T50 (same size as the U50) has a perfect proportion on my 17cm wrist. I think the U1 has the perfect proportion for your 19 cm wrist. Looks great.

I second and third the "whichever feels more comfortable." However, I will say activities you will be doing with the watch on and weight could play in later. If you work with your hands the smaller U50 may be better as it's less likely to get caught on anything. To give you perspective, as you are a bigger guy the U50 on you looks like a classic proportion 37-39mm diver on an average wrist. The U1 looks like a modern sized sub on most people. So pick what you like best. If there is any chance you will ever sell it the U50 probably will move on easier. That's my .2.

·

Haha, I actually visited all three Sinn AD's in my country and gave each a hard time😄 Despite the slightly better wearing comfort of the U50, I think my heart wants the original U1. It's a beefy sporty tool watch that I can totally pull off.

Thanks, that T50 looks perfect on you. Almost wish I had your wrist (and your watch)😄

The grass is always greener... I wish I had yours. I think the U1 with the blue dial is absolutely brilliant. I like big but my 55mm wide wrist can't handle the U1. I tried it. Looks like a 7 year old wearing a G-Shock 😂

Ah yes, by the way that beautiful T50 is unfortunately not mine. That's jut me trying it on at HQ in Frankfurt. But if i ever get those 3k together. Then 😍🎉

Thanks to you all, with your help I think I've made up my mind! Going to gather a bit more courage (=money) and go shopping for a U1 S🥳

·

I have a slightly larger wrist than you (8") and I find I need at least 42mm but it really depends on the bezel thickness as well. It is a real thing when geeks say something plays larger or smaller, that must be taken into account as well.

·

Certainly in the realm of good problems to have. From the comment photos, I vote U50 but both look great!

Totally. I have no problems wearing my 556 I, but found the U50 on a strap a bit too small. Dial size, watch type, colors, all have a surprisingly big effect.

The U1 definitely looks better on the wrist....

·

The U1 aesthetically looks like a better fit but grab the one you’ve been wanting more, wear the shit out of it, then rotate it when you buy the other one!

·

Both are fine. Neither look too big or too small. It depends on what you like. I prefer how the U50 looks on you, but it’s really splitting hairs.

You have to look at what are the typical watch sizes you like to wear and ask yourself which you prefer. Then go with the one that is closer to your look/preference.

I recently visited the Sinn factory with the view to getting the U1 (and / or a 104😬) as I’d heard the U1 was huge. Tried the U50 and it seemed really small - got the U1 and I love it!

Yes, it wears very well due to the modest lug-to-lug. Looks great on you!

Thanks - I got it on a leather strap (cost partly and also didn’t like the bracelet or the silicone), put it on an old strap I had while I wait for my Artem sailcloth. Good luck with whichever you choose!

Thanks and nice choice of strap! I hear Sinn's new textile straps (launched with the T50) are also pretty decent.

I tried all types…😂 I liked the textile but they weren’t right for it (I also have other nato type ones I could use too), I almost went for a canvas one but my wife said she felt the edges would fray and look cheap fairly quickly. Went for the black vintage leather with red stitch accents - looks ace but want on sailcloth while it’s summer and sweaty wrists etc

I remember seeing some photos of a U1 S E on a frayed canvas strap, I think it kinda added to the ruggedness of the watch and looked more cool than cheap😉 But I believe it also has a leather underlay so no added waterproofness benefit, that black leather is a great looking dress-up option.

I have a 6.5in wrist and I typically can’t stand anything over 39mm. Having said that, I wear my U50 more than any other watch. That U1 looks great on you! Can’t go wrong either way. If I had your wrist, I would be checking out Damasko as well.
