Where do you sell your watches?

Where do you guys sell your watches when you’re trying to offload a piece?

I don’t have an eBay account so I don’t have any selling history. I’m concerned that may make it hard for me to just start selling.

Any suggestions?

I’m considering selling my Hamilton Khaki Murph (42mm) and a couple others including a brand new Blanc Pain X Swatch (Orange).

You gotta start somewhere just open an account it will sell if priced correctly and everything is legitimate

I just put on my lucky overcoat and stand on the street corner.

I sell every once in a while on Facebook marketplace. I sell certain pieces I come acrossed to two different stores. One of those stores will ebay watches for me too. I buy bulk lots in auctions so I usually sell to them where I make a couple of bucks and they can make a couple of bucks. I have gotten a couple of guys I work with collecting watches so I sell directly to them. I have sold the watch I was wearing right off my wrist to them. I always take a backup with me just in case. I should have my own ebay sales going but I have a pretty good thing going.

I’ve sold two on eBay with no prior history. It was fine, but both were less than $100.

Hate to say this, but gotta start somewhere, and eBay is still the best.

The fees suck, but no different than all the other sites like Chrono24, etc.

Much harder to get scammed on eBay too, can't say the same for Reddit, FB, etc.

Thanks everyone! Looks like I’m going to try my luck with eBay. Fingers crossed

If you live in a metropolitan area consider a platform like OfferUp, take good pictures and meet in a secure area. I meet at a police station near my house during daytime and accept cash only.

Rural areas generally don't have the population density to make watch sales convenient this way though it doesn't cost anything to try.

The advantage is no shipping, PayPal, Chrono24 or eBay fees and the buyer handles the watch right then and there so there are no surprises over condition etc. Without all those fees the seller should be able to offer competitive pricing.

The more info you put in your description the fewer questions you'll have to answer before a sale.

I've bought and sold hundreds of items on OfferUp. There are occasional kooks and time wasters but you'll learn to shut them down quickly. I also turn off the notifications at night.

Good luck!

I prefer watchexchange over watchswap because they track transactions to build reputation. Not scam proof but it helps.

Reddit watchexchange and chrono24 are my preferred choices.

Do you have a trench coat?

I have used Ebay, Chrono24 and a local AD who has a consignment section. The AD is my preferred method. Lots of time wasters on Chrono24 (IMO) and be specific as to where you can or cannot ship!

Good idea, I never thought to use OfferUp but this makes total sense. Thank you sir!
