Anyone Handled? I might be in Love 😍 - Longines Hydroconquest GMT

The new Longines Hydroconquest GMT

I’ve tried on the green Spirit Zulu Time 39mm 2 times and didn’t pull the trigger. It wasn’t really time to grab a new watch but my next watch is definitely going to be a GMT. Both the history of Longines and GMT + the visual appeal of the Zulu and the Hydroconquest. I’ve also always had an eye on the Hydroconquest but already have a nice diver I enjoy.

Then this thing came along and I might head over heals, just haven’t seen it in person.

Has anyone seen this in person yet? Anyone know any short comings of the watch I should be aware of before going into full persuit?

Hi Max, I haven't handled one yet but Longines seem to have really got their design department together.👍😉😃

The only shortcoming I can speak of is the odd round indices at 6 and 9. It's unusual to have smaller indices at these hours and it makes the dial layout look a bit off for me. I would have preferred bigger batons for a more cohesive design.

That's the only complaint I can think of. The rest of the package looks excellent. Thin case profile, female endlinks. They got almost everything right. Almost.

I have my eyes set on the blue Zulu Time 39mm too. 😍

You can say that again! They’re slept on, and I feel like they’re about make some huge moves into bigger adoption in the future. This being one of steps.

I see your point about the dial markers. I think I’m so much happier with this than the large “12” “9” and “6” numerals on the original Hydroconquest haha. Otherwise I agree they smashed this one out of the park.

Oh yes, this looks so much better than the regular hydroconquest numerals. A step in the right direction!

I love that they’ve done away with the numerals for this reference, but the super long Longines lug to lug length make their watches unwearable for me.

I want to love Longines but I just can’t wear their watches.

I got a chance to try it on at the start of the month. It was before they announced it. I popped into the flagship store in NYC and asked to learn a bit about the brand and if they had any GMTs. She pulled these out.

Image

She started to give me the hard pitch on THEYRE not available on the website or any store, they’re the only ones that have it and if I wanted it, I can purchase now.

Image

Not knowing much about Longines, I told her I’m not an impulse buyer and would have to do homework on the watch. She said you’ll find nothing online because it’s not available. It all sounded like bogus to me.

Image

Later that day I looked into it and didn’t find anything 🤣🤣🤣. It felt nice on the wrist and fit well. But I’m not entirely sold on the GMT/Dive watch combo.

Oh man, this is why Watch Crunch is so great haha. The dive / gmt combo is the one thing that I’m still really ontemplating on. Thank you for the pictures and your experience with it!

Loginess Zulu Time 39mm is better because it is Chronometer (for me anyway).

It’s essentially the same movement L844.5 in this one and L844.4 in the Zulu. Zulu just got the chronometer stamp.

41 mm is too big for me. 😎

I have one Spirit Zulu GMT in 42mm & happy with it. The color scheme looks pretty similar. Will check this out. Thanks!

I've had the hydroconquest gmt for almost a month now and it's incredible. It's not certified for COSC, but has been keeping time within those specs (-1.6/spd).

As someone that often uses a dive bezel and wears GMTs for travel, this was a no-brainer for me because it's a well executed 2 in 1 watch.
