Seiko SSC813P1 Prospex

Yesterday I've been with one of my clients and to my surprise he is into watches as well. We spent together approximately an hour and to both of us seemed that time too short so I can't wait 'till I'll see him again. Why Am I posting this is that he wore the Seiko Prospex panda 39mm solar watch. I was always into mechanical watches whether automatics or manual but this watch messed my head up. I can't stop thinking about it. It just like when you know you met the dream girl so you get married but after a week of marriage some blonde girl pops out of nowhere. It's seriously crazy feeling. Have you ever experienced something similar? The other dilemma started in my head with the size of that watch. As you can see

Image

all of my watches are pretty much similar sizes, some a bit larger, some a bit smaller but that panda Seiko seemed way too small but I liked it. How could I even like it I have no idea. I always preferred larger watches so the beauty of the watch pops out more but this small Seiko was just about the exact right size. He claimed that its 39 mm but really? Can a millimeter or two make that of a significant difference? Does anybody own that watch? What's your overall experience with that solar movement? Does it requires a frequent servis?

I am grateful for any opinions and experiences with this watch 🐼🐼🐼

Got it recently and I've been loving it! Great size and proportions, doesn't bother me that it's quarz because the running second is on the left subdial so I barely notice the ticks. The crhrono hand sweeps pretty nicely!

No hassle grab and go watch really! Don't need to service these, just to replace the solar cell after 10 years maybe? I really like it 🐼

Thanks Paul for your opinion. That's also new for me that the chrono hand sweeps, I seen this watches on chrono24 for a very reasonable prices, from Japan they selling it just over 300€ so I'm seriously considering to purchase this watch

Heard the bracelet quality is great for this one.

Heard the bracelet quality is great for this one.

The guy who showed me the watch said the exact opposite, he said that this was the only drawback of the watch and he had it on a black leather strap, it looked good, only the lug size is 19mm, so it is not easy to find an adequate strap for it

its an amazing watch which also dont break bank. it wears well on any wrist

I own this one and Love it. But i can tell you it wears relativlly small because of the bezel against the dial.

Great quartz watch, sharp dial and fits the wrist extremely well. Sub-dials that hold solar cells can hue purple at certain angles, but really only "con" I can report from my perspective.

Bracelet is nice, I replaced it though.

It’s 20mm

There’s a 41mm variant if you want bigger.

I find the bracelet to be very good for seiko standards, just the endlugs are not well integrated but I still think it looks good. It's a solid bracelet with some heft, just 2 microadjusts wich is why I upgraded for an uncle seiko claps with 3. Lug width is 20mm!

Now that's confusing, I'm gonna ask that guy again about that size when I'll meet him because that makes significant difference from my point of view

I was actually surprised overall with that smaller 39mm looking watch a good way, I kind of like it
