Taking the plunge into Panerai (finally)

Always loved the look of Panerais but keep putting it off… “real” Panerais are too big… “small” Panerais are not real Panerais… Panerais are (insert anyone of the many issues or complaints). But as my watch journey matures, I decided… buy what I like. And am fortunate to find (what I think) is my perfect Panerai… a PAM00574… no regrets in taking the plunge. Loving every minute of it 😃

Are there watches you like but you are holding back on? Why?

This one because it’s out of my price range at the moment and can’t justify spending £6k on a watch when I still live at home I can afford one though because I still live at home tho 🙈🤣🤣

Life is full of unexpected outcomes, events: when I was younger there were many watches that I wanted but lacked the dollars, now that finances are no longer an impediment, most of the watches that I wanted are no longer easily sourced. There are one or two watches that I like but not love so I am in no hurry.

Like the Panerai design as well. And this is a very nice example: clearly a Panerai - but not over the top.

I do have a couple of watches I’m holding back on - but that’s a cost (and spreading of it) issue. Getting some affordable watches I also really like in the meantime :)

On the Pam. I have read that they don’t have hacking seconds. Is that correct for all current Radiomir and Luminor models?

Can’t speak to “all” models, but my Radiomir and any that have the P9000 movement do not have hacking seconds.

Beautiful PAM! Enjoy it!

It’s a really cool watch. I want one, but can’t get past that at this moment.

I thought it would bother me, but it doesn’t at all. It’s the only watch I have that doesn’t have markers for each minute / second. I guess form over function? Exact timekeeping doesn’t seem to be what they’re going for in their designs, and I’m okay with that. If it was my only watch, it would probably bother me more.

There’s hope for me yet!

For sure! If you have the chance, definitely put one on wrist. I was blown away and the movement, complications, etc. were overshadowed with the sheer good looks of the watch and how perfectly it wears.

I love the flexibility of the 42 - can wear it with anything. The 44 puts the cool in jeans and tshirt, but that’s it for me, I can’t pull it off with anything else.

Agree fully. When I found out about this particular 42mm Radiomir (especially the thinness) I was smitten. Super versatile. And glad I could finally scratch the Panerai itch after so many years! 😃
