Does and which Rolex Explorer 16570 suits me better

I need your help. I got me eyes on the explorer 16570 as I was looking for a gmt and do not want spend at least 14'000$ on the vintage pepsi (for the current pepsi I do not have hopes).

First of all I'm not sure which color suits me better but I got a really nice opportunity to buy a full set polar explorer 16570 swiss only edition (1999)freshly serviced by bucherer without polishing for about 7'200$. At the beginning I liked more the black one as its more versatile but with time I found the white more appealing and special. A black full set for around 6'700$ is also available. That's the first struggle.

Second I'm wodering if the prices will not fall more as I see that on Chrono24 but also on the local market prices are going down and it seems a lot of watches are not sold. I think prices will not go much down as it will become more rare to obtain a good example.

Which model do you think suits me more? And do you think the price is good or do you think I should wait? Let's hear your opinion.

I love the polar one 🔥

Honestly I bought already 8 watches this year and I still am desiring the crown. I mean it's quite possible that then it will not feel that good. My dream would be to get the new pepsi but I do not want to play the games of the AD's. It's just annoying and I can spend my money better. So now I'm on the "wish-list" and I wait without buying.

How do you mean go second-hand? The 16570 is second hand!

Christopher Ward is not so much my taste or more sth for the future. I did not find any other GMT appealing as the rolex one. The tudor I liked very mich but it's just too thick.

It's quite a beauty!

Try them on first and chose the one you like on the wrist. I’m always a bit confused when someone asks which one to buy, because I associate with buying; falling for a watch… anyways in the worse case get both.

I tried both on but still not sure which on to pick.

I got to tell you that my vote will go towards the white dial for sure. I feel as though it can be dress up or down very easily, and can be considered a go anywhere or do anything watch for yourself. I would also recommend asking the misses if you have one women have an incredible ability to know fashion and matching a design almost instantaneously, if not well do you have my vote and I’m sure the community will way in

I understand they are very generic side by side :-D the white one is probably the more exciting choice.

My issue with the white one, I'm not sure if is that versatil. And one other thing is that I have already 2 white watches (ebel el primero and tudor black bay chrono). The second thing is what miss said. She likes more black.

For me, it’s the black dial for its versatility with any occasion and attire. As for prices, impossible to accurately predict so if the watch lands on your budget and it’s in the condition you seek, strongly consider it. Happy hunting 🤙

I could also imagine have both the pepsi and explorer 16570. But I honestly do not think that in any time soon I will get the pepsi. Here in Switzerland the situation seems to keep the same, even getting worde in my opinion. Besides Pepsi I like very much the explorer 2 with its own unique design.

I just know for sure that I would be very pissed if the watch would be cheaper in some time like for example $5000. On the other side I suppose with years vintage should stay stable as especially the current collection lost a lot of value.

Wait a bit and try to get new polar dial, availability should get better - either from AD or grey

The new polar dial is not my cup of tea. I find it too big and this old reference has just the perfect proportions as all 5 digit rolex.

Understand. Would still wait a bit, unless you have enough funds then just get it

·

I would take the white dial. The color of the hands make the whole watch pop. It looks like a special watch. The black is nice but looks boring compared to the white.

·

It's odd for me because between these two I prefer the white but with the alpinist gmt I prefer the black.

·

If you wait, there is a chance prices go up. There is also a chance something happens in your life that doesn't allow you to enjoy the watch. Buy now and enjoy it as long as you can!!

Polar is dope 🔥

I voted black, but if the white dial had a black bezel, I would have voted Polar, and I'd have one on my wrist by now!

I love that look. Omega has a Seamaster Diver 300 with a white dial and black bezel that looks amazing, IMO.

It's my next purchase!
