Dream watch for around 10k

Hello watch enthusiasts!

As I said before, I am planning to make my perfect 3 watch collection.

  • For everyday use I have the Rado Golden Horse.

  • As a dress watch I will use my wife's Cartier Tank occasionally with my own strap )))

  • Now hunting for that special watch for special occasions.

I am considering between these 3 watches:

  • Omega SEAMASTER AQUA TERRA 150M 43 MM, STEEL ON RUBBER STRAP (220.12.43.22.03.001)

  • Jaeger-LeCoultre POLARIS DATE (Q906868J)

  • Breitling PREMIER B01 CHRONOGRAPH 42 (AB0145171C1P2)

Now tell about your thoughts which would be the smarter choice? I have a 17,5cm wrist, planning to wear this watch with more casual clothing rather than formal, and as you can see I am leaning towards blue watches with rubber or leather straps..)

Man that's almost my selection. What a great collection that would be. And they're blue.

·

Tough choice, all 3 are beautiful. Of the 3, I would go with the JLC.

·

That JLC is stunning! That.would be my choice.

·

Tough choice between the JLC and OMEGA , I wouldn't look at the Breitling myself (don't like chronograph's) . I go OMEGA as it's a nicer looking piece & I'm an Omega fan.

Good luck mate 👍🏻

·

I'd go JLC or Omega. I feel the JLC is a better size vs the Omega, slightly more classy and something non-watch nerds might not recognise.

Omega has better brand recognition to the general public.

While I love the globe and GMT complication on the Omega, it's not such a versatile look.

·

If you travel a lot then omega, otherwise JLC for the dial is amazing.

·

The Omega, a beautiful dial. The others are nice too, but that would be my first choice.

·

In terms of proportions (not individual measurements) the JLC is the most balanced. The Omega isn't just large, it looks fat with the upsizing of features like its bezel the lyre lugs. Beautiful dial, though. The Breitling is a thick watch (ratio of diameter to height). These things may or may not matter when you feel each one on your wrist.

Then comes style: WT, compressor case, chrono. Three quite different propositions. Having owned multiples from Breitling, Omega and JLC, I have a connection/experience/appreciation to all three on their own terms and mine. Personal preference right now is for simplicity so I'd choose the JLC.

That said, I'm not impressed by JLC's massive price hike. Looks like they've front-loaded price increments. One objective of this seems to be to lift their watches into a bracket above Omega and Breitling. They probably are better watches and more niche than the other two, but still: ouch.

·

The Brietling is the most versatile of the 3. But if you’re not wearing formally/dress, I’d go Omega

·

I’d probably go JLC.

·

Polaris. You already have a dress watch. I think the Polaris you’ll wear everyday.

·

Polaris + a brown leather strap.

·

JLC, Breitling and not that omega 🤣. I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the 3.

·

The Omega is busy for my eye but I don't think you can go wrong with any of the 3. I own all 3 brands but at the present I'm most transfixed by JLC. I feel like the Polaris fits right in between the other two in terms of the level of "busy". It's sporty without needing an additional complication.

·

In the conditions you describe, I would choose the Breitling.

·

The Aqua Terra would be my pick.

·

I’d take the Breitling out of these three. They’re all good though.

·

For me it'd be the breitling, the omega is way too busy for me, and idk the jlc just doesn't cluck for me

Breitling is a nice mix of flashy but not too busy, and dressy without being too formal, aka a really good show off watch

Thanks for the detailed response, yes you are correct. I have to try them on my wrist. JLC seems to be simple, yet classy.

I have the omega worldtimer and the gilded earth dial does look spectacular.

I have a 17.5cm wrist as well and it doesn't look that oversized. I've switched out the rubber strap for a blue croc leather and looks even better.

My biggest gripe about it is the lack of a quick adjust date. I left it in the watch box once and took it out after 2 weeks and manually winding 2 weeks worth of dates was no fun. Have kept it in the winder since. Fyi if this is a concern.

Wow, congrats! Looks stunning! 👏👏

Does it hold its value, it is a bit of a concern to be honest)

JLC all day. It’s a gorgeous watch and wears great. I have an 18cm wrist and tried one on last week. It fit great and is just gorgeous. All three are nice though, so happy hunting!

Thank you! 🙏

Polaris all day. Imho best design and brand of the bunch. Also best finished movement. I really like the aqua terra but I happen to feel they should’ve made the strap wider. I think the dial is way too big for the strap and it looks very strange on wrist.

Yes, the size of the Omega is a concern, should definitely try it on.

I’ve looked into buying all three watches at one point but I haven’t tried any of them on, so take this with a grain of salt. To me, the best of the three for what you are going for is the JLC. It’s less formal than the Breitling and you have the Cartier for formal situations. It’s less busy than the Omega so it will match more outfits. It’s also the least recognizable which can be a pro or a con depending on what you are going for.

That is a spot on advice, but I will have to find a way to try them all before making a decision, so good luck to me finding those watches here in Uzbekistan))

You can never go wrong with Omega. I personally like the small seconds AT. The Polaris is not for me. The Breitling is also a nice choice. Omega for me. Love their AR crystals and overall watches.

To be honest I was planning the Silver Snoopy, but when I found its aftermarket prices…))

I would go for the breitling. It's even more stunning in person. Definetly try all three of them on before making the decision!

(I know you're only looking at the B01 but please(!) also have a look at the B09 if you can. It's just that stunning in person!)

Thanks, will check it..🙏👍

I Have no idea. I bought it because I love it. I assume no watch holds value unless it's a rolex or some specific patek/APs.

For that matter check out the Silver Snoopy which I was initially naively planning for 🤣🤣
