Birthday present for my wife

Hello good people! My second post here..)

Have been looking for a birthday present for my wife. She really likes the Cartier Tank, but does not really get into the details. I was wondering, is it a good value watch, or I could find something better for the similar price? Thanks!

If the wife wants a Cartier tank, nothing else will be good enough. It's a classic that she'll enjoy forever, and for me there is nothing better for the price. Remember, happy wife, happy life.

For the price of the tank, there’s nothing that looks like it. I’d she’s been looking at the tank, get the tank. Solarquartz is 3k+ USD, can’t go wrong with that. If you want something cheaper, Longines has some beautiful pieces, the new Dolce Vita Mini is a new take on the rectangle watch designs.

Okay, as I said, she really doesn't dive into the details. The only details is that the watch must have a metal strap and silver color, a more strict look. She has a medium wrist size (for women).

Knowing all that, which model you would go for? ...from the so many Cartier Tanks out there? )

It's difficult to guage how it'll look on her without actually trying it on. I'd look at the Tank and the Panthere.

True! The Longines Dolce Vita is another excellent alternative, as are the Baume & Mercier Hampton and Hermes Heuer H. However, if you're already looking in the $3000 price range, you might as well get the original tank watch.

Thank you! Dolce Vita is Longines right? Looks even better for my taste ) Can you suggest any trusted online retailers where I can see the prices? In my country unfortunately there are no luxury watch stores, so my option is to order from USA where my brother lives.

Tough, I don’t live in the US. I know carat and co has them, don’t know if they will discount you, but it’s worth a shot to enquire. It’s a family own store and I think one of the owners is part of the marketing team which runs their YouTube channel. You can try them. You can also buy from Jomashop, but they’re not ADs. They are probably the biggest grey market dealer.

Ummm. That’s what she wants. Me thinks it’s a no brainer. I assume you asked and that’s what came out of her mouth. If so, bringing home anything else (even a homage to the tank) isn’t going to cut it. #cartier

I tend to agree))

A Seiko tank and cash would go farther. Gifts for women they don't pick out usually languish in their jewelry box.

I have a lot of experience disappointing my wife, despite being a good guy who tries his best. Your wife may not care about the details but women love Cartier, you cannot go wrong, vintage current, a tank, Ballon Bleu, etcetera. Each year my wife agonizes over what to buy for our two daughters for Christmas( I remind her that we are Chinese, do not even observe Christmas but agree receiving a gift is always nice). She is the best mom, better than her daughters who are less complex in their thinking. I just went to my usual ad and picked up two Cartier Tank watches for our daughters, didn’t even bother wrapping, the ad just gave me an additional Cartier bag. It worked out well, wife was happy, daughters were delighted.

Hi I bought the Cartier Tank XL with the metal bracelets because my younger daughter’s wrist is too slender for the leather strap with clasp but the bracelet could be fitted with links removed. The ad that I bought from offers no courtesy discounts so I opted for 6 months interest free payment plan. I cannot recall exact price but with 13 % HST (Can tax) around 13k cad for the two. I think if you shop around you can find them cheaper but I needed 2 with bracelets no fuss shopping. I think it is the Must line which are entry level watches. Good luck. The watch comes in a few different sizes but only the XL is fitted with the manufacture movement should last a very long time with a service.
