Just finished filling my ‘Attainable’ watch box…

When realising how many watches I have acquired over the last few years (received as gifts or purchased due to pure interest), it makes sense to me to use some, and attain more to build a clean, functional and varied collection of watches - with quality, affordable pieces that not only appeal to me, but also to the wider watch community.

My main thinking for this group of watches is to have 6 attainable pieces, from 6 different brands, with 6 of their own unique functions - hopefully displaying some of the ‘best of’ each brand across the collection within their ‘entry level’ range…

1. Casio G Shock - Sports

2. Hamilton Khaki Field ‘Murph’ - Field

3. Orient Kamasu - Dive

4. Sea Gull 1963 - Chronograph

5. Timex Marlin - Dress

6. Seiko 5 Sports GMT - GMT

Please let me know what you think of my choices :)

love your collection, it seems like your preference is same as mine, different function, different brand.

Nice collection.. Some good choices 👌

·

Solid options. Let’s see some pictures!

·

Really balanced and great collection. You have a watch for just about every setting.

·

Nice collection!

·

Been eyeing on the seiko 5 gmt batman! None the less, what a complete collection you have there !

·

Some good choices, I have the seiko and orient and love them. I am looking forward to picking up a murph myself. Can’t go wrong with a gshock

·

All great watches. Love this collection!

·

Very solid choices for lowest collector entry point 👏

My only swap might be the seagull into a

micro or a Seiko running the Seiko mecha quartz chrono?

A bambino is also a universally loved dress that nobody would look down on.

Kudos on amassing great group 👍

What's wrong with the Seagull? It has a handwound column wheel chronograph movement in it. Certainly not finding a Seiko with anything comparable at that price.

·

Nice affordable selections! I’m a big fan of having a sub collection of budget/affordable watches.

·

Those are all great. Love Hamilton. Timex is a nostalgic choice for me, so I love the Marlin. Love the Seagull. I haven't picked up one for myself yet.

·

Very cool! I did something similar (Russian Collection) during COVID and it was a fun project.

·

My approach to collecting is exactly the same. Awesome box — I love every piece!

Hudson, my man - no offense to any seagull fans out there. It’s my own preference to avoid the brand

Every single Chinese company is partially (or fully) owned by the Chinese government, and does whatever the government wants

Chinese government: Uighur genocide, Tibetan genocide, South China Sea ecological destruction, Lied and hid early facts about COVID allowing its worldwide spread and continues lying about COVID, committed decades of government run intellectual property theft from the west (“the biggest transfer of wealth in human history”) , factory farming the ocean globally destroying other countries fish stocks .. it goes on and on

so while I know I can’t fully avoid Chinese products and parts, I’ll at least avoid directly buying from China when it’s easy to do so.

Same goes for Russian products for similar reasons. happily that’s way easier to do

I guess the last item, but least important, I’ve heard seagull movements may not be the most reliable. but of course have had no personal experience with the brand, so that could be out of date hearsay. Cheers 🍻
