If someone asked me a couple of months back if I would ever consider buying a steel watch, with said dial and indices/hands - I would answer "Huh - no way".
And then things move one. You start to look at the watch in videos and then progressing trying it on you wrist at your AD.
"BOOM!" - and suddenly this ugly duckling is a swan.

A couple of years ago, if you'd shown me this watch, I would have said that it's the ugliest thing I've ever seen in my life...
Now, I think it's going to be my next watch.
This video is hilarious - it really shows how all of us enthusiasts have gotten brainwashed over time!

Funny, I have recently been attracted to a similar-looking watch that I always detested, and now I think “if only I could afford it, I’d buy it in a blink“. I haven’t seen that video! I’ll have to give it a watch later, looks like a good one.
The green is so dark that it attracts attention without yelling, and the gold hands are attractive without being gaudy.
That's a beautiful watch 😍

I've seen this before. It's truly fascinating, but not because of what they say. If you don't know a subject, then it's no surprise they can't guess the price. No, what is really interesting is that among such fashionably dressed people, only two are wearing a watch. One looks like a typical "fashion watch", possibly a ugh Daniel Wellington, and a smart watch. That speaks volumes. The young are really not interested. We may be entering a generation of people who could care less about mechanical watches.
Them GS draw you in, don’t they? That watch is great looking AND the color combination with steel doesn’t make sense!

You know, it's funny, but I've been thinking about this. I've been thinking long and hard about this. Like, this is me thinking about this...
Those millennials... they're young. Which means... they're poor. I mean, genuinely, think about yourself at age... 25. Me? I didn't have a pot to piss in. So, of course they don't care about luxury watches.
Okay, here is the perfect analogy:
These millennials don't wear watches, and they don't think about watches, because they can't afford watches.
But, once they have some money... they gotta find ways to signal their wealth and status! And... voila! Luxury watches will be adorning their wrists!
I will say it, the 271 is one of my favorite GS. I do not own one yet, but I absolutely love it. It is a leveled up version of the SARB017.
GS does beautiful work. Seiko/GS are amongst the best dials in the industry. No surprise they pull off the Oakland A’s color scheme and look good.
One of the best watches in existence. I have the blue dial as I’m not cool enough to wear the green one 🤭
Looks amazing
