Your First Wristwatch?

This was one of my first analog wristwatches that I wore pretty much every day for four years. I wasn't an enthusiast, but it was almost a necessity for me and I didn't feel right without it. What was the first watch you wore everyday?

Now, looking back at the watch, I see the scuffed up mineral glass, the shattered index on the bezel, and I know how many times I've had to swap out that silicone strap. But I also remember the many hours of volunteering and abuse this watch would take. Sure, Luminox doesn't have the pedigree of a lot of watch brands, in the grand scheme of things, but this watch made me feel right at home when I wore it.

Mine was this pulsar that I got as a graduation gift from a family friend in high school - it’s super interesting to me now. Very wabi sabi at this point - still wear it all the time. It original came on a bracelet, but now I wear it on a uncle seiko velcro nato 👌

I still remember it, I was ten years old, and it was a gold-coloured Junghans hand-wind for 25DM, on a dog-poo brown bund strap with golden rivets. It was stolen in school :(

Got this one in 1995 when I was 15. Still wear it from time to time. Has a Miyota inside.

What a cool-sounding watch, but what a sad story to go along with it. I hope you've found other watches or pieces that have the same sort of value for you.

That's pretty classy! Got any stories behind it?

kenneth cole something. I bought this watch when I was in either high school or college. It was the very first watch I bought with my own money. I never know what to do with this watch. It has too much sentimental value to throw out, but I never wear it anymore. It’s just been renting a space in the corner of my watch box for the last 20 some odd years.

My first wristwatch was acquired at 10yo with my hard earned and saved money for $19.99.
Equivalent to about $105 today. This was 1977 and my watch was amazing.
Texas Instruments 501.

What a nice sentimental story, you could even say the watch was ahead of the trends with its integrated bracelet design 😉

Woah, didn't even realize they made anything other than calculators but that's a really cool watch.
