Vostok or Orient? Need opinions (not facts) on which one would you choose
Both are cool in their own way.
Both are diver's watches (200m wr).
One is "dressier", the other looks like a tank.
One has sapphire crystal, the other has acrylic crystal.
One costs $190, the other costs just $115. Is the $75 difference worth it?
I already have an Orient (a dress watch).

The Vostok because it's unique and because I don't feel any appeal for the Orient.
I would go with Vostok, it looks more interesting then the Orient. Plus you already have a Orient watch so you would be adding variety to your collection.
To me vostoks look incredibly cheap and nasty.
Not only the overall design but the finishing and paint on the cases and bezels.
Often with very rounded corners and everything polished to shit which is just a much easier and cheaper form of manufacturing than perfectly cut edges and a mix of brushed and polished edges. I get the feeling they are made with metal casting rather than CNC cut pieces which is cheaper and weaker and much much less accurate.
In my opinion they look x10 worse than most cheap Casios.
For example:
Not even in the same ballpark.
Not even playing the same game.
Not even on the same planet.
GMT is flavor of the week, but it really comes down to whether you want something stable or something with higher highs and lower lows. This is a wife vs. a mistress.
I will add that IME first world watchmakers don't want to go looking for Soviet parts should you, say, drop the thing and break it.
I have a few Vostoks (but they have been in the drawer since February) and while they are a good value when purchased for under $100, they feel like an inexpensive watch. Somehow they feel crudely made. I don't have an Orient but plan on picking one up in the next few months. I have tried a couple on and the fit & finishing seems far superior to my Vostoks.
Obviously just my opinions.
The Orient is the better watch and is well worth the extra money. I do love Vostok so for me I'd get both for sure. If you are only going to get one get the Orient.
