Golf Lesson - "Watch Your Swing"

Afternoon everyone. Golf season can be coming on soon for some so I thought I would share some of my 25+ years of insight ☺️⛳

I wear a watch golfing for a couple reasons. Mostly it helps prevent your wrist from extending (or flipping).

  • If the logo of my glove goes towards the watch, the club face will open, causing the ball to go to the RIGHT.

The best example of this on tour would be Dusting Johnson. (If your familiar with golf you know how well this guy can drive the ball! 💣 💥 🎯

  • Notice his glove hand, it is flexed (bowed) at the top of his swing. That is the over exaggeration of what I like to look for.

  • As for my swing (and no I do NOT hit it as far as DJ 😅) My wrist basically matches my forearm. This would be neutral.

I hope this tip helps your game, and if you have any questions for me on golf, or watches; feel free to reach out!

P.S.

I would NOT recommend wearing a automatic or mechanical watch golfing. The impact with the ball and the turf may damage the movements. ⛔ (Just my thought).

Lol great advice, tho I do wear my autos and hand crankers....

Figure this might kill them faster tbh 😆😂. YMMV.

If it can’t handle golf it’s not much of a tool watch.

Thanks for sharing 👏

Valid... I guess I was more talking dress watches lol. Good call!

·

Love playing golf. Do not play with a watch on but might consider now. Cheers to a new golf season

Golf and watches, my two favorite hobbies!

·

Can you recommend clubs for the “senior folk” with low swing velocity? Let’s blame the watch for the lack of speed🤪

Sure, firearms mostly 9mm, 5.56, 6.5 Creedmoor and the odd 7.62.

In the included pic, just doing some demolition training on an EOD range. That's C-4 on a practice bomb.

And to the OP, I haven't seen any issues yet, I have a steep swing plane with a faster swing speed, though I don't go 100% all the time, prefer a smoother 85-90% with more control.

Ill give my advise. The pitching wedge is more important than smashing balls. You can flip your wrist all you want but when you hit an Amalia Air heart ball, (Takes off in the right direction but no-one knows where it landed.) it leads to penalty strokes. Also on the putting green, treat it like its the practice green. The more you look at it the more you read breaks that aren't there. Just lag it close. I have had three rounds of golf with nine one puts. And i have successfully started and completed one hundred fifty holes consecutively stroke after stroke with the same golf ball. You can read the story on amazon, review of noodle golf balls. Look for the review with 6000 and look at the pictures. Hit em straight, avoid penalties, and stay away from the water. Practice your short game because your drives will come to you quickly. Seeing as this is a watch site, i use a Callaway yardage watch. Duane.....Black Diamond, WA. 98010

Ah very nice bro! Have you had to use the PolyWatch yet on the Hesalite? I’m curious hearing a first hand review on the crystal. Lorier is definitely my next watch. 🍻Cheers man. 🤙🏽

Love the SP Orient. Whered you get your rubber strap? Always trying to find more shops. Lol.

For me this might be the last week of golf until 16th of April. Next week, all the prices around here will skyrocket. When the Masters is over. The prices will take about a week to go back down. I just always wore sports watches when I played. Never noticed an issue. Everyone enjoy your tee times.

Nope. This is the same crystal, no Polywatch since '21.

I DEF use my tools, but I also don't just swing my arms around willy nilly, or put a cutoff sock/sweatband over it if there's lots of tight spaces.

I’m looking at a Neptune or Hydra as my first Lorier. 👍🏽

A golfer with a wicked good short game is a terror in any type of competition.

When I was in community college in AZ, I got the chance to play a few rounds with the U of A women's team. Sergio Garcia's younger sister was there. Not the farthest hitter by a long shot. But she wiped the floor with us due to never going into penalties, always in the fairway, always on the green, and a fantastic putter.

NGL, when playing from the blacks or tips, on very long par 4's and par 5's, is the only time a long ball hitter has an advantage, and even then it's a slight edge.

Hitting a 5-6 iron into a green for eagle is quite a bit easier than using a 2-wood/iron/hybrid.

And actually you wanna mess with someone who has a high swing speed and a long reach, make them play from the whites or senior tees. They run out of club REAL fast and have to use knockdowns, cuts, baby fades, etc. Which means having to swing at something other than full, which in turn means more mistakes....

Unless they can flop like Phil Mickelson.

Lol have both. Would recommend either if no budget restrictions. (The Hydra is a tad pricier, but it's also a Miyota GMT).

I'll be the first to admit I'm prolly not the first end user that Lorier designs for, but they've held up well. I have magnetized the Neptune several times. But I work at times with/in/around strong magnetic fields.

This was my wife's 5 yr anniversary gift. According to some old school list, traditionally it's a watch. And I liked the style, she liked the engrave-ability, and the rest is history as they say.

The Neptune, well it's my personal favorite out of all my watches. It goes with EVERYTHING, and I love the size and the aesthetic. I could wear this one watch all the time....if I HAD to. But I won't cuz I like watches 😂.

The Hydra wears very well for a watch that is the same thickness as a Tudor Black Bay Pro. And when hopping timezones it is fun to keep track of home time, but still have a traditional bezel insert.

Just haven't quite found THAT strap yet, but have some ideas....

The Neptune gets rotated a bit, but I absolutely LOVE it on the WOE x ZuluAlpha 2.0 OD green w/yellow thread.

Very nice bro thanks for posting. I think your close up just sold me on the Hydra. That polishing is great. 🍻
