Hey there!
My dad has always enjoyed watches, but it hasn’t really been a hobby for him, rather just tools and something nice to wear.
Before I was born, he had some nice watches, including a Seiko Kinetic which my mum bought him. This one stopped working after some years, and he decided to just throw it away.
His latest ones were some colourful plastic ones the entire family bought in Greece closer to 10 years ago. He stopped using them after a time, and now these ones don’t work either.
My recent enthusiasm regarding watch collecting has bitten him somewhat, and he has been looking at something for himself the last couple of months. So, we looked at one of our local stores together, and he found this one:
The Seiko Classic Titanium SUR375.
So that’s what me, my sister and my mum got him for his birthday today!
I think it’s perfect for him, sporting
40 mm
Quartz movement
Sapphire crystal
Date
Titanium
10 ATM water resistance
It’s a watch he can wear anywhere anyday, which is great! He now has a quality watch again, which he had missed having. Feels really good giving something like this to someone special in my life ✨

That is a lovely Seiko ! Your Dad must be made up all the family got it him. Would be interested to find out how much it weighs?
Awesome watch, fits you perfectly 👍

He seems really happy with it! 😀 According to Seikos website it weighs just 74 grams, I guess that's without the bracelet?

I agree, I think it looks great. My dad seems to really like it!

Maybe not being titanium - thanks for the info.
Great watch, great son, great story ❤️🤙❤️
Too kind! 🥰

Thank you so much! ✨
Too bad your Dad tossed the Kinetic. I have one and it stopped working so I put it in a drawer and forgot about it for a few years. One day I was looking for something in the drawer and saw it and pulled it out. I looked it up on youtube and saw a video on swapping out the capacitor and ordered one. I swapped it out myself. It had the smallest screws I have ever worked with but I got it working. I am amazed at how accurate it is. I had never paid much attention to the accuracy before until I purchased a few mechanicals.
Congrats to your Dad on his new watch.

Agreed! I think he took it to a watchmaker who told him the watch was a lost cause, hence him throwing it away.
My mum also has a Seiko Kinetic which stopped working, but my friend got it working last year, also buying a new capacitor. Really interesting stuff!
