I made this my Datejust alternative for a number of personal reasons that likely won't match yours - but my goal was a high quality blue dial time and date only on a bracelet. My reasoning for the GS was as much pro-GS as it was con current six digit Rolex.
In no particular order:
I wanted an all brushed bracelet vs polished center links / I wanted to try a Spring Drive movement / 36mm feels too small, 41 feels too big. I wasn't thrilled to part with 7K (+) / I wanted the date wheel to have an interesting font (sorry Omega) ...
I'm with @nightfury95 here - 40mm is on the big side for these flat across the back designs that don't have fully articulated end links. At least for most people with under 7" wrists (unless you like seeing daylight between you and where the end links turn down). A/P for sure gets that as does Tudor with the least appreciated articulated watch on the market, the Royal.
That said. If any company has the means to extend a line (and the known capacity to listen to it's fan base) it's C/W. Hopefully they have success here - and they let that translate into a wider selection across the 12's platform.
This is a great edition. The silver/white dial one has been on my short list for the last two years. I think the case shape gets overlooked because of the popularity of the 44 & 62 GS models - but this one sits beautifully on the wrist and the fully bushed 3 link bracelet is just spot-on to my eye.
The correlation of replacing one form of addictive behavior with another is real.
As for endless online scrolling: it's like we're all participating in a massive public clinical trial of sorts with social media (god knows what the look-back on this is going to be for us and our kids in a few decades).
Regarding watch purchasing: well, watches don't just show up without spending money - and plenty of addictive behaviors are attached to spending habits as well.
But as many have said on this thread already: a watch hobby addiction is pretty safe compared to a substance addiction ... Heck, maybe we should start an anonymous 12 step sub-forum here for those who have over indulged!
