[Grand Seiko] SBGA429 Soko “Shadow Gray”
Finally got my first grail watch in celebration of some monumental progression with my mental health. The earth tones throughout the dial are my favorite colors, especially green. The bronze gold GS plate is to me, a reminder of the “light” at the end of the dark tunnel. I also love that the brushing of the dial is inspired by the texture of bamboo during the end of autumn in Japan, it’s something that plays with light very well. The white date window brings excellent contrast to the piece in person too. The watch comes to full circle with the spring drive movement - in the press shots I thought the second hand would be a lime green, but in person it’s more towards a sage with a light yellow hue - which I LOVE. So happy with this piece, and I love that it is a GS a that not many know about. I’m excited to look at this watch as a reminder of my own personal battles, and the excitement that my future has to offer with humility. Have a wonderful weekend all!

Congratulation for the watch man! What a beautiful dial and a heck of a watch! Love the green! it really pops up and reminded me of the time I was able to travel to the arashiyama bamboo forest in Kyoto, Japan!

The way they added the different pops of color on this piece is amazing. Such a mastery at balance, which seems extra appropriate given the personal balance you are celebrating. congrats all around 😀

This is a great edition. The silver/white dial one has been on my short list for the last two years. I think the case shape gets overlooked because of the popularity of the 44 & 62 GS models - but this one sits beautifully on the wrist and the fully bushed 3 link bracelet is just spot-on to my eye.
Perfect dial except for the power reserve!
Haha! Thank you for the love everyone. i know the power reserve is a hit or miss for a lot of folks but it makes more sense when you see it actively with the sweep in person
