Which Omega to my collection ?

Please take a look at my watches on WRUW, which of these omegas would complement my collection. I am open for other suggestions as well. Many thanks ! N.B. I like the AT shades in green but it is too polished for a daily wearer IMHO

I havent tried any of them yet, but I ve saved up and I am almost there to afford my first luxury watch! And I always had a sweet spot for the seamaster line. This model was also released recently in 38mm so I ll try that one too

Hard to pick...

·

If you want to try something else, try Constellation Globemaster with tungsten bezel. With that one you need to work very hard to scratch it. The one with blue dial also looks fantastic.

·

My vote is for the SMP300m.

For me, the perfect blend of tool watch and luxury.

Finishing and attention to detail is phenomenal. Bond connection. Amazing movement. Built like a tank. The way the light plays with the brushed, polished and ceramic surfaces is mesmerising.

Downside are it’s heavy, bracelet not great for smaller wrist with rather sharp edges. The clasp is as long as the watch head as it has to house the divers extension.

But I love it.

I will definetely try it once I visit my AD. do you think the white dial one is as nice ? Since I have an Oris with similar blue (Gift from my wife so I ll never give it up) I think I would not be adding versatility with this specific one in blue

As I have a fairly big enough wrist and can pull off the longines HQ 43mm (see WRUW shot) I think this one should not be a problem. Otherwise than that the weight isn't a problem for me and somehow I like the bracelet and would probably put it in summer on a light blue nato. What do you think between that and the green one ?

Yes, white dial is also great. I only mentioned blue because your first choice above is blue. But, dial color is only one aspect of the watch. This dial is a tribute to their pie-pan dial. And, take a look at the back of this one. You will see a beautiful twin-barrel coaxial movement. I have the same watch with Annual Calendar and I look in the back as often as front. I'm sure your Oris does not have as nice case back.

I agree on that but I am trying to match also a little bit my watches to my style and the blue I mentioned is lighter and more suitable for summer especially. I agree the Oris can not be compared but I like to rotate through all my watches and have the mentioned versatility. I just checked them and I liked the green dial annual calendar the most, unfortuanetely out of budget currently for me but who knows maybe I ll try it out and like it so much that I decide to save longer 🙂

So... suggestion? In your collection, I see 2 divers and a gada in the big crown propilot. Ever thought of an Omega chronograph of some kind? Doesn't have to be a Speedmaster, but thoughts?

Thank you for taking time to go through them. I agree with you but if I would be getting a Omega diver I would give up my longines diver to look further for something like the CW 12. So basically besides the Oris I am willing to give up any of my watches to update my collection 🙂 Concerning the chronograph besides the speedmaster (I love it but the 30m WR do not do it for me) I do not like any of them style wise or they are too expensive for me (Unless you have a specific model in mind ? ).

my favourite chronographs at the moment are:

TH glassbox 39mm

Longines Big Eye black dial

Breitling classic avi

Tudor chrono

These are also all models that are somehow within reach for me.

·

First of all, all of these are desirable.

A. and C. Both would be great if you’re looking for a diver.

B. and D. Are great dressier additions.

I have the diver in blue and absolutely love it.

·

So you have a dress, beater, 2 divers, a casual GADA (Oris), and a world timer, so of the four you listed above I would go with either of the Aqua Terras as a dressier GADA. This is if you are simply trying to do this from a cerebral functional design. If you are adding to your collection from a "wow" factor, well only you can answer that. 🙂 As someone else pointed out, if you were trying to "check the boxes", then a complication of some sort (chronograph, GMT, Bel Canto, mechanical world timer) would fit the bill. Or maybe a watch "just for the fun of it", like the Studi0Underdog or Mr. Jones ones. Or Seiko/Timex Snoopy ones.

I own two Aqua Terras, the red Terracotta one and then a discontinued white laquer/blue hands "Good Planet" model (also Aqua Terra) that I both love. Can't go wrong with any their AT line really (as long as it speaks to you.....try it in person please!).

·

I will definitely try it in person! thank you for your insights 🙂 I am trying to keep my watch collecting hobby as humble as possible (Since having kids and other priorities) so it is not everyday that I will be going out of my way to buy a luxury piece like that. This where I agree with the complication part but I feel like maintaining those adds up the cost especially from luxury brands. the other criteria for me is to get something timeless.

Concerning your other point, I could imagine down the line getting myself some seiko GMT (the recenet releases have been fun! ) or a chronograph but maybe something dressy like a junghans.

But for my first true luxury piece I want something to keep and be interesting even in a couple of years as I plan to keep my watches for longer times and not willing to trade easily 🙂

Thanks for taking time and giving me your insights

Green AT is arguably the best modern watch Omega ever made IMO, so that should inform how I voted.🤘

·

B or D.

·

The green seamaster on the green strap is amazing

·

You can't go wrong. I'd pick a colored dial. You have a beautiful "dress" piece - otherwise I might push the AT at the end of your lineup. Here's my hubby's AT... on a regular strap. I may sneak it out. I warned him to leave the steel band on....

Each of them would work in your collection so I can see your conundrum.

Can I ask "where do you see yourself wearing the watch?" Is it just for days when you want something a little bit special for you or out with the missus/friends? That would narrow down the tool watch or dress watch first. 😉

I love the blue personally. Especially for the Bond connection as I’m a huge fan. The green is a lot darker in real life and in most lights looks black.

I’d suggest going and trying both on at an AD. I’d bet the choice for you will become very easy when they are on the wrist.

I would I rotate through all my watches so I try to give any piece wrist time no matter how cheap/expensive otherwise it wouldnt stay in my collection. But this one would be for going out and special occasions and sometimes to the office as well ( I am casually dressed so I do not relye on it being a dressier watch ) Otherwise than than that I probably wore a suit once the last two years

Thank you this is a really good advice ☺️ I would say I have narrowed it down to green AT and blue SMP and thank you that dress watch is from my hubby as well ☺️
