Longines dolce vita
Hello Watch crunchers! What are your thoughts on the longines dolce vita ? Is it worth it ? Or should one rather look into cartier and jlc reverso ? Do you think it is a homage to cartier anyway ? I feel like longines as a brand has its own identity somehow

Both look very homage-y. It's probably hard to reinvent these designs without the immediate ressemblance to JLC or Cartier.
I'm a big fan of longines. The question comes down to do you want a great rectangular watch or do you want a Reverso or a Tank. If its the former than you can't go wrong with longines if it's the latter than don't waste your money on anything that's not Reverso or tank 😁
I have always liked the tank-style case, but the sector dial on the Longines really sets it apart in style. IMHO.
I have tried these Dolce Vita men's watches on before. They are okay, but the crown is awful on that watch. Very hard to grip and use. I have no idea what they were thinking with that crown. It also has a printed dial so you have to be okay with that. It won't pop the way a watch with raised indices will. It's also no substitute for a Reverso if that's what you really want. With that being said, I think it could be the right watch for someone. I would try it on before buying though. It seems like this line is more popular with the ladies although I don't mind looking at the Jennifer Lawrence ads myself.
I also considered the Dolce Vita when looking for a tank style watch after watching one of Killing Time with Norman's videos. As @RandyC pointed out, the crown is atrociously difficult to grip and use unless you go with one of their quartz models which doesn't require as much winding. The watch also looks thick from the side, but that's just me. Best to go to an AD and experience how they actually feel and look on your wrist. I ended up going with pre-owned Must de Cartier vermeils and a Bedat & Co. No. 7 with a curved case, guilloche dial and blued hands. Such an amazingly underappreciated watch!
Might I suggest Evidenza if you are concerned about being a tank homage. 😉

what also caught my eyes is the alpina heritage carree, I will check both out in person!
#longines has a big back catalogue/history of its own.
