Q: How did you get into watch collecting?
My father is a big watch nerd and car guy. I have (for better or for worse) inherited these two hobbies.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
I had a quartz SWATCH which was my first watch that I actually wore on a regular basis. But the watch that really started it for me was a watch id recieve a few years after the swatch which was a TAG Heuer Professional 200. I recieved it at the age of around 13/14 and wore it everyday for a few years before expanding my collection to what it is now.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
My 16570 Explorer II which is a K serial meaning jt was produced in 2001 making it my birth year watch. Funny enough I was offloading pieces to save up for the explorer II and the person who I was seling a watch to coinscidentaly had the exact watch I was looking for. In a way the watch found me and it is my favorite watch, my grail watch, and the one watch id keep if I had to sell everything else.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
As a new collector it is important to lay a good foundation for your collection. Buy a few timeless pieces you can afford, wear them, and expand your tastes and see what really sticks. Listen to someone who is reputable and whose taste aligns with yours for advice. But above all buy what you like.
