The story how I got the watch I wanted so long - Murph 38mm

Hi watchfam, let me tell you a short story...

Soon after I started collecting watches and learning more about them, I noticed Hamilton Murph. It was love at first sight, but there was something I couldn't ignore. It was the size. With 42mm, it simply wasn't for me. That's the reason I bought Khaki Field Automatic 38mm and I couldn't be happier. I mean, that wasn't the only reason. I just love that watch for so many reasons. It speaks to me. The Khaki Field Automatic 38mm is simply legendary watch. So, after Hamilton announced the 38mm version of the Murph, I knew I'll get it one day. Months have passed, and I tried contacting my local AD to try it, but there wasn't any watches for me to try. So, I decided to contact them and they said they could get one for me, so I pulled the trigger and ordered one 8 days ago. They said the watch will come in a 4-6 weeks. Since I was waiting for that watch for months, that wasn't the issue. I thought, "The expectation will be higher and higher, and I can't wait!" Also, I simply enjoyed the process of knowing the watch is coming. Let's get to yesterday.. I was traveling to other city to a conference, and I'll be staying there until Sunday. While I was at work, a couple of hours before the trip, lady from a local AD called and said the magical words: "Your watch is here!" I was so confused, happy and sad because I had to wait until Monday to get the watch! So, I decided to leave the office for an hour to get the watch! At the AD, I tried it and the leather strap was way to stiff (I kinda expected that, nothing new). They said the watch came directly from the factory, it wasn't showcased in the store so it was a bit stiffer than usual. Since I decided I want to take that watch on a trip with me, I went home, changed the strap, and 2 hours later I was traveling with my new watch! I wanted to take the Khaki Field with me, and I thought about taking both, but it would be too much. When I get home, I'll put back the original strap just to wear it a bit, to get that Murph feel. That's a story about the watch I wanted the longest, of all my watches! Some would say that the Khaki Field Auto 38mm and the Murph 38mm are the same watches, and I would kinda agree, BUT in my mind, those two watches are different worlds and I'm keeping the both. I see myself enoying both in a numerous occasions. And, of course, I'll be watching Interstellar once again very soon 😁
