Flea market wonders

As title suggests, today was a success, got myself a pocket watch, which sadly is not working, so I'm looking forward to get this beauty to a well deserved service. Got it for around 15€ depends how bad HUF is today, I think thats a good price for it. No idea about the brand or the movement it contains, but the dial speaks for itself, pure vintage ww1 feeling. All in all, today was a great day, hope you are having a good one too!

I think Roskopf means redhead?

Looks great, no (IMHO annoying) hunter case to fiddle with. I'd be curious what the Geiger counter says.

Love this! Please keep us updated on the progress when you get it serviced.

This is Georges Roskopf. He brought watches to the masses with pin pallet escapements. This one may be difficult to get working. Good luck.

Well, thank you very much for the information, even if it won't work it will be a nice piece to look at.

Geiger counter? Will I get superpowers or just radiaton poisoning?😂

It may present an issue for getting someone to work on it.

I just dropped off a 1930's Westclox (I think) pocket watch with a super cheapo dollar watch movement for repair. It wasn't declined, so it may live again.

Radium has a bit of panic to it. The real danger is ingestion, either by mouth or by breathing in dust. If the material doesn't enter you body the radiation can't pass through your skin. Most of it can't pass through the case. The Radium Girls licked paint brushes to apply paint to dials. They developed grotesque mouth and throat cancers. Careful watchmakers don't seem to be at any particular risk.

Nice find hope its a simple fix and get to enjoy it. I found me few simple watches in the flea market sometimes you never know what might find.
