Casio, I am a bit disappointed!

The A700 is truely a beautiful watch. I love the pop of blue, the silver mesh and the negative display. But wearing it today felt off. As the day went by, I couldn’t put my finger on it but it suddenly dawned on me: The date was wrong! Casio did build a module for regular februaries, but this one has no fully programmed calender with the correct leap years. What a let down! Why do you do this, Casio? Isn’t this your core value? I never thought I had to manually set the date on it besides after a battery change. Who of you had similar experiences?

Yup, the base model modules don't have a perpetual calendar. It's part of OG charm 😁

Dont get me started on the new WS1700 launch. Their new watch has a defect (cant set dual time past pm/evenings) and Casio wont fix it until their next module cycle or production, Im guessing. I returned mine to Casio and they are returning it back to me with only a different watch as my only option. Casio is far perfect, nor God Tier. No one is perfect.

·

I had to set the date on a couple of my digitals also.

Thank God I recovered quickly from the strain of the procedure and was able to go on with my day.

I expected so much more from a sub 50.00 usd watch.

And to think I have to go through this in another 4 years!!

I also don't understand Casio's stubbornness to keep using negative display. Had to mod my own G-Shock display just so I can at least see it.

I heard about that faulty module. One could assume a japanese company would strive to do better!

It is such a first world problem. I was just surprised because a lot of watches from them are sold with a perpetual calender till 2099. I thought all of their modules could do this.

Nice choice tbh. I was so caught up in the Casioak hype that I couldn't wait for later releases with positive display

It was pure luck to discover some posts from people here on WC complaining about those negative displays, tbh. This one is perfect, I am using the small display all the time.

You'd think so. Ive also seen a module only do "mm-dd-year" only once before, where many in the world do it as "dd-mm-year", I cant recall which one though, but little quirks like that, u would think would be caught knowing they sell in many countries.

The only watch in my collection where I do not have to adjust any date and where even leap years are being shown correct is this wonderful Tissot Tradition Perpetual Calendar.

Strange, somehow. You would think that programming such a simple module would be easy these days. Memory size can’t be the problem anymore.

Nice watch! Never owned such complication!

Funny thing is: My G-Shock could handle the leap year, since it has a full automatic calender till 2099.

Damn straight!😹

Dude…it’s a cheap watch. That module is one of their most ubiquitous.

I know! But using some extra lines of code for a full automatic calender, which is totally possible on other cheap watches from Casio shouldn’t be the problem because memory is cheap. The differences in price due to case materials and finishes is understandable but modulewise it is not.

The same lack of functionality is present with the 5154 module in the AQ-230A ana-digi. It's even explained in the user manual.

My guess is that they never took the care to program the years and you can't even select a year during the setup.
