Prom Night

And there he goes, dressed up in a suit that he is not quite comfortable in, but you can tell that he is enjoying the experience. It's prom night, and I let him drive the Porsche for the occasion. (I hope I won't regret that.) He and his girlfriend left not too long ago, and they looked cute together, even though she is taller than him. I guess that's what you get when dating women on the school's volleyball team. It's kind of weird to see him like that, knowing that he will leave for college very soon.

In any case, the reason I'm writing this is that he picked his first dress watch. Oddly enough he went for a Shinola Runwell out of all the watches I had. He was however very appreciative, just when I fixed his tie for him.

Not sure if I'm ready for him growing up quite yet, but there is nothing I can do.

Yes, he did. They had a nice dinner, prom was fine, too. But she unfortunately had a curfew, so he dropped her off and attended a party at a friend's farm afterwards. (I wondered why the Porsche was back and his truck was gone.) On that note, I don't think he returned the watch yet. 🙄

It really hasn't sunk in all that much. The big step is him moving into his dorm room this summer.

Same boat as you. My son leaves for college in Sept. I got him a cool HS graduation present, though: This Citizen Homer Japanese railroad watch from 1971. Haven't given it to him yet, but I will soon. Good luck to us both. I think we'll need it!

Yes, I think the biggest challenge will be calming my wife as he is moving out. Unfortunately my son didn't really want a watch, as much as I tried to convince him. ("I'd only lose it, dad.") That's a nice watch your son can look forward to.

Mine rather wanted me to show him:

He shall see both in a few weeks. 😉

Prom is this weekend. I want my son to have a watch with his suit, but he doesn't see the need. I'm at least trying to get him to wear one of mine.

Hey, at least you tried. My son just wore the watch for the event. I'll take the little wins. 😉
