Caseback woes

Anyone ever dealt with vintage Timex? Referring to the Timex Q I was recently gifted. It looks like whomever last changed the battery, they may have put on the cover wrong. Which really shouldn't matter, only they you need to be careful not to cross-thread it, which I don't believe they did. Still can't get the battery cover off.

Also, I have no idea what battery this old digital watch would use. Just guess based on size? This is the Honda btw.

I can't get this Timex battery cover off. It will turn left but not unscrew and come off. 🤬

Any ideas, @TimexBadger ? I'm at a loss.

Well, I'm not an electric watch expert but it looks to me that you line up the arrow on the cover with the "open" and pop it out. It's not threaded, per se, it's more like a QD hatch...

Also, it takes the Timex A cell (Says so on the battery hatch...), which is an LR44, or the 357, or many others... all available everywhere.

Good luck with it.

Just turns and turns and turns. I'll YouTube it or something. I don't want to damage it. Tried aligning the arrows then gently prying. No go. 😤

Looks like it had a rough life. It may be damaged.

I'm pretty sure it shouldn't turn 360°.

Could be the gasket getting caught. Similar hatch to the 70’s Seiko King Quartz.

Just asking, but couldn't you pop the whole case back off and deal with this when you can see the other side?

Possible. I may try that.

Hey Jason, sorry I just saw this (I haven't been on for a bit). I had the same issue with an old Q and when I finally got it off, it wasn't worth the trouble because the battery kept popping out. The problem with these old Timex watches, is due to the price of the watch they are not worth fixing. My problem with this was to build a Timex museum with all my non-working watches. Sorry I wasn't a big help, but unless it's a luxury watch, they probably are not worth fixing. I'm noticing there are guys online that love doing this and are not charging a lot, but you have to search and check them out.

Appreciate it. I'll try to fiddle with it. But I won't sink a bunch of money into it
