Thoughts on the Vaer Navy C3?

I'm seriously considering getting this 36mm piece very soon. What are your thoughts?

I have a Vaer D5 Atlantic, and I love the watch. That said, the lume isn't amazing, it's serviceable, but not mind blowing.

I've been toying with the idea of picking up a S3 or S5 Calendar some day, to round out my quartz watches a bit more.

Thanks for the insight. The S3/ S5 Calendar is a classic look, and will look good in any collection. 👍 Will consider that one as well.

Don't know anything about the brand but that one looks pretty good on the strap.  Not a fan of the bracelet, especially with the male endlinks.

·

I think it's cool. Looks like a solid watch from a brand with a good reputation. I've never handled a Vaer but I have heard good things.

·

I don’t know much about the watch but it looks fantastic on the leather strap. Think the bracelet leaves a lot to be desired, but could just be the angle of the photo. My favorite part is the knurling on the crown - it looks deliciously grippy and reminds me a bit of the Orion Hellcat or to a lesser degree the Seiko Samurai. If you snag it, you’ll have to share your thoughts! 🤙

My first thought is… looks like Nomos Club which is a very nice watch. Even lugs are quite long as those from Glashutte. Look nice. What „ticks” inside this Vaer watch?

i dont know about the brand but it is a stunning watch. i bet it is a strap monster too

yeah, it's a beauty on the leather strap. and, good catch there, bud. didn't notice the male end link. that'll save me USD50! any suggestions where i can get a good 20mm female end-linked metal strap that will match it?

It's indeed a looker on the leather strap. The piece automatically comes with a nice blue silicon strap + another free NATO strap of one's choice. If I choose to get a leather or metal strap as alternative to the free NATO, I'll have to add at least 50 bucks... I think. And, yeah the knurling indeed looks quite crisp. Will share my thoughts for sure, if I get it. 👍 Thanks, bud!

You're right... it does have a semblance to the venerable Nomos Club. 👍 But I think this piece leans slightly towards the military/ Navy DNA. The dimensions actually are quite compact: 36mm width, 8.4mm depth, 42mm lug-to-lug, and 20mm lug width. This is the sweet spot for smaller wrists like mine. It does come in a 40mm variant. Their site publishes its movement as a FTS Ameriquartz 6130HT.

It is stunning... 😎 caught my eye immediately on their site filled with various field and dive watches. And yeah, it does look like a strap monster. 👍

Yep it has this kind of a rough look. I also see that it can go as an automatic. Looks cool for sure. And I like the lume glow.

The A5 Design Navy (40mm) has a Miyota 9039 movement (USD499). The A7 Design Navy (40mm) has an ETA 2824 (USD799). Unfortunately, they don't have any of these movements on a 36mm case. That would've been a real sweet spot. But, let's see... I may yet choose to stretch my budget and get the A5. Like you, I also dig the lume glow. 😉

It all depends on the size of your wrist, think hard!

yep, the Navy C3's dimensions actually fall within the sweet spot of my small 6.25-inch/ 50mm width wrist 😉

I've got the C3 Tradition and 6.5" wrists. I actually wish it were a little smaller, visually, but it's great on the wrist. I really find myself choosing it more than I expected. It is just so practically styled, unobtrusive, and tough enough.

You hit the nail on the head. If you prefer your C3 Tradition looked a little smaller visually, despite it having more text above the 6, then this would be even more true with the C3 Navy, since it has very little text above the 6. Your 1st hand experience is definitely something I need to seriously consider, especially since mine is a 6.25" wrist. Thanks so much, bud.

I'm wearing it again today so I can additionally comment that beyond the case being really thin for a watch of decent water resistance, the lugs curve downward beneath the case back (IMHO as God intended) so there is none of this overhanging board feel/look.

That is a great looking watch.   I have the VAER solar 38mm diver and the quality excellent for the price.  I will definitely end up buying another VAER at some point.  I'm hoping they will make a 12 hour dual time bezel watch.   A fixed lug diver and / or field watch would also be great.
