New Oris Aquis - Some Basic Errors

"Quick Adjust Clasp System." I am guessing they will call it QUACKS? Otherwise they could have thought of something more snappy.

Never mind that, that's just a micro (adjustment) detail, the bigger issue is why on earth would they have the micro adjustment on the largest and smallest watch sizes, but not the middle one, even though the bracelet for the largest fits the middle, what sort of weird idea is this? Seriously?

From Hodinkee "......they confirmed that one could – for example – buy a 41.5mm Aquis Date and then buy/fit the bracelet from the 43.5mm (with its quick release and quick adjust systems)."

And only the 400 movement is in the larger sized watch. Why is it not an option for all sizes? I mean??

Keep in mind that they have all year to think about their release and they have these details missed, it is just very confusing. They will change the strap issue and probably release the 400 in all 3 sizes, but why not have this from the start?

Diameter:

43.5mm | 41.5mm | 36.5mm

Thickness: 13.1mm | 12.9mm | 12.2mm

Lug-to-Lug: 51mm | 49mm | 44mm

Water Resistance: 300 meters

Strap/Bracelet: Steel bracelet with fold-over clasp or optional rubber strap.

Caliber 400 models and the 36.5mm sizing will include both the quick-change ability for the straps and the in-clasp/on-wrist micro-adjust system.

The Movement

The 2024 Oris Aquis Date is available with one of two movements: the in-house Oris Caliber 400 (43.5 mm model) or the Oris 733 (41.5 mm and 36.5 mm) Sellita based movement.

I was more excited about Oris last night when I went to bed and set the alarm to see what Oris was cooking. I just don’t understand this 😨

Can't understand the choice of ORIS. Very confusing.

Looks like minor tweaks along with some strange choices.

I was expecting a promised email at 0830 which still hasn't arrived. I was hoping for the old school 65 update, like the orange 75 they did. Yet they do a complete amateur hour with this. I have a soft spot for Oris but this is nonsense.

I feel the same way. i love this brand so much, but the heavy leaning on 43mm is also very strange

It is quite strange. Especially because one would assume the 41mm is the sweet spot for most people... And it gets the least love. 🤨

its quite possible most people buy the 43mm and that is why Oris is leaning on it the most, despite the tendency of the watch forums to act like everyone is dying to go back to wearing 34mm watches( yeah a little hyperbole there). Not saying they shouldn't have equal variety, i think its better when its there but i don't think its that obscene of a choice.

Bring back the 39,5mm Aquis..

·

Oris wtf????

·

Urgh they put the quick adjustment clasp ONLY on the $3900 model.... Why Oris whhhhyyy?!?!!

So true. I wonder if they'll notice when Christopher Ward starts eating their lunch with watches with very similar (often better ) specs for half the price sometimes

No, even more strange. They put it on the largest and the smallest but not the mid sized 😮 And the bracelet from the 43.5 fits the 41.5, so why not sell it with that?

Why does Oris do these things 🥲

No idea, it is very strange, can't see any reason to it.

I think the Caliber 400's size prevents it from being insert into the entire range.

I also think, people like having the Selitta options. When the 400 was announced, there was a good amount of folks praising that they kept the Selitta option.

For sure it will fit in the 41.5. I don’t know about the 36. They should always have both options.

Yes but for some reason not in the new model. They have them in 40 mm 65’s. Haven’t looked to see if in smaller pieces.
