Who are the Watch Photographers here?

I thought it would be fun to start a thread for all the watch photographers here.

In a different life I shot natural light portraits, but I enjoy the challenge of shooting watches. (it’s HARD!)

If you’re a photographer leave a comment with your camera setup and your favorite watch photo that you’ve taken!

Camera: Canon R5
Favorite Lens for Watch Photography: Canon 100mm Macro 2.8 L

Great shot!  I’ve always wanted a Fujifilm, but I’ve got too much Canon glass to justify buying anything else! LOL

i never comparing one camera brand to another. but from what i see your shot is awesome, if it serves you well there is no need to change haha

I’m still new to watch photography as well. This is one I recently serviced. Shot on XT4 using 18-55 lens; I have a macro lens I want to try next. This pic was for thumbnail so I didn’t need too much close up, and it a bit oversaturated for that purpose. Good topic, I’ll try and get better proper pics later today.

I don’t have a favorite at this point but a recent shot I was very happy with was of my BB58. Captured on my A7III with 90mm @ f/3.5 ISO 400. 🤙

iPhone. Always with me. Wide/Tele/Macro. Snap, edit and uploaded in 5 mins. Personally, at least 99% of the pictures I take, can be done on the cameraphone. Even shots with a lighting setup - I’ll use continuous lighting as opposed to flash hnits

Great post and love your skydweller shot! I agree it is hard. I came from shooting portraits and sports photography so I thought....these things aren't moving and they dont complain or have demands, so (in the words of Jeremy Clarkson) how hard can it be?

But yeah, product photography is tough. My weak point is lighting, but I'm working on it.

I shoot with Nikon d750, I like using my 85 Nikor Prime as well as a Sigma 105 macro.  I also shoot with a Lumix ZS80 with Leica glass as my every day carry.  I like it because it has focus peaking and can "sometimes" do internal focus stacking which is very useful when shooting in macro. Here are a few recent ones I like...i have soooooo many more that I DONT like :)

Great shots!  Completely agree about it being more difficult than it seems it should be…small, shiny objects don’t always do what I want them to! 😂

I agree that using continuous lights can make life a lot easier at times!  Great shot!

Nice!!

I’m not a watch photographer but appreciate the skill and eye it takes to capture that “perfect”’shot. Great shot of the blue dial Sky Dweller by the way!

Thank you, I appreciate that!  I think it probably took me longer than I’d like to admit to get the setup/lighting the way I wanted it, ha!

iPhone 13 Pro and Canon 5D mark II + L macro lens

I wouldn't consider myself a watch photographer .. but I do like to tinker with taking photos of my watches.. does that count?

All but macro taken on my Nikon D3400 with a 35mm prime portrait lense typically. Macros I use my Pixel 5 with a Moment 10x Macro lense and Moment case.
