Daily Watch on a Strap: Which one for ~$1K?

Pros of the CW: Owned a white dial one before, best watch I ever owned. Lovely case size, specs and durability with great customer service. The price means I can buy two other straps I really like for the price of the Stowa alone. Bracelet options if I decide to purchase one from CW in the future. Cons of the CW: I already own two gloss black dial sports watches. One is a Tisell Explorer, so the CW is not exactly treading new ground for me. Optional Bader bracelet has massive clasp. ________________________________________________ Pros of the Stowa: Brand new brand to me, been eyeballing this watch off and on for years. Never owned a flieger-style watch, so it's a new type of watch for me. The legibility and dial layout is crisp and clean. Top-grade Sellita option with great movement finishing. Better QC and they regulate their watches quite well to run 0/+10 spd. Cons of the Stowa: Fully polished case, so a scratch magnet. Sort of long lugs. Only 50m of water resistance with a push/pull crown. Tougher to dress down on different straps. No lume. Also more expensive than the CW, though not by much.

I'm a CW fan but you can only have so many GADA watches. Mix it up with the Stowa 👍

I think that the Sealander is honestly CW's best watch. I absolutely love mine. (I had 7 CW's this time last year, my Sealander is the only 1 I kept) If you are open to blue, the blue dial colour of the Sealander is stunning in the sunlight.

Go with the Stowa. I've had my Antea Classic for 7yrs now, and it's probably my most worn watch. The hands are beautiful. When the light catches them just right it still stops me in my tracks. They did a great job finishing the movement as well. You can see the pride they take in their work. Great underrated brand.

I'd get the Sealander, but with a different dial color.

Stowa all day long. Lots of love for the CW but personally - I love these relatively “modest” German watches (Sinn, Muhle Glashutte, Stowa, Junghans etc.) with genealogies that are long on elegance AND utility. Stowa “Partito” is on my short list.

Stowa! I think you will appreciate having a flieget watch + the white dial, and you get to try a new brand.

I think I’m leaning that way, too. Also, Stowa regulates their movements very well and they’re very transparent about it. CW? Not so much. A bit of a crapshoot for how well the movement performs.

I’m in the midst of debating both of these myself (CW in white and Stowa Marine small seconds to be precise). My research suggests it’s a win win, which is good news but also makes the decision that much harder. I think I’m going Stowa because the timeless design speaks to me a bit more than the CW, as well as the apparently higher quality Sellita movement

Stowa also regulates their movements; CW doesn't for their Sealanders. Stowa regulates EVERY movement to 0 to +10 spd accuracy. I'm more of a bracelet guy, so I'm not ENTIRELY convinced on the Stowa, but if you love straps, get the Marine 36.
