Collection dogmas

I completed a 5 piece collection with the following rules:

1. Steel case on steel bracelet

2. Dark grey or Black dial

Do you have any dogmas in your collection?

I like to have at least 1 Swedish and 1 British watch in my collection.

No Invictas or “U-blows” 🤣

I like that rule …

This post made me wonder what my dogma is🙄

I tried hard but I can't seem to find anything common other than they all tell time.

Even if I narrow them down to only analog watches I can't find anything common other than those most analog watches have - hands, indices, logo, prints, and crown.

So I am a collector with no dogma. I don't like the sound of it. But I'm fine....... Well, am I?

Nice collection! Definetely your approach is not as narrow as mine! You have a couple of my favorite pieces too 🙏🏽

Preety boring/classical general rules set some time ago:

  • diver ( have one )

  • GMT ( have one )

  • modern dress ( have one )

  • vintage ( have two )

  • everyday/GADA ( have one )

  • beater ( have one )

  • chrono ( buying this year )

As for other preferences ( dials, bracelets, where made ... ) nothing special, I buy what I like and what speaks to me. Definitely not buying blatant homage watches or fakes, fashion watches and Aliexpress watches. And definitely finished/beyond hoarding phase, if new one comes one has to go.

I don’t think are boring at all. Also I like the new one comes one has to go rule, I think I have to start doing that … for me the goal is create collections of five. I believe I’ll go for orange dials next ¿?

Solid rule that I hope to apply one day 😅
