White Dial Convert
By now everyone knows I wanted a Daytona, the steel white dial Daytona to be precise.
That was me dreaming at a young age, not even deserving any watch above 100bucks 🤣
Then on the faithful day I got the call, I was brave enough to ask, if there was any steel Daytona available to try. There was! One in black dial already accounted for (of course) and a white dial for exhibition and not a chance in £%^^ that is was for sale 😄
I was half excited to try it on and half dreading it. What if I now feel like I like this more than the two-tone that I got the call for? Oi wei!
Thankfully, aging has somehow saved me, and I found the two-tone a bit more forgiving on me.
Look, I dress up well for work, skirt, heels the works. But I'm also so laid back out of the office that my watch carries the load of being the only "blingy" thing on my off days (or days when I really can't care and I dress for comfort at work). So as the a story goes, I very much contented and happy bringing home miss goldie d with me.
I rambled...apologies...to the point 👉 I suddenly find myself loving the crispness of the white dial. Just like a crisp white shirt goes so well with jeans, you just can't beat it. With the 15minutes alone time with the steel Daytona, I felt there couldn't be a better choice. Personally thought, with the two-tone, it was just perfection. It is crisp, classy, just the right amount of dressy gold with steel. Fully agree with my SA that pairing it with a jubilee bracelet like the GMT, would have been overkill. The Oyster bracelet balances the gold characteristics of the watch while the white dial keeps it still grounded. Same for the Speedmaster, I had a speedmaster but passed it on. It had the black dial. Now with the release of the white dial, it is intriguing me again (but no, be strong, we have exited the hunt🤣) Then the Snoopy Moonswatch was released and I might have been saved. Lol!
I know some people find this Daytona flashy, something that will sit in the watch box for eternity. For me, I can't stop wearing it. I have to stop myself and wear the others too, lest they think Mommy doesn't love them anymore 🤣

I find the white dial black bezel combination a little harsh compared to the one you have. I'm a massive white dial fan, and as you know also tempted by the Snoopy Swatch 😂 I think my favourite is my Longines purely because they made the hour batons so delicate and narrow but the second hand hits between each one without fail 😂

Honestly, the Longines hit Noon just before the pic and EVERYTHING was perfect. I had a bit of a moment😂 You'll cave before I will on the Snoopy, cos I'm hoping to get mine in NYC, so that'll be October.

Love your 2Tone Daytona, even 30 years ago white dial models were waitlisted if you wanted steel. Two buddies suggested we try to buy Daytonas as a cohort at a familiar ad. Owner had the personality of an amoeba had gold, gold and steel and a handful of steel. My friends, more mature $$$$ wanted precious metals, I hoped for steel white dial. Guy offers me black dial, no discount because he doesn’t like me from past transactions. lol. Rolex ads love or hate them.

Thanks for sharing! That's also the case I assume with the shops here. Precious metals are more accessible than the steel. As for my SA we got to know each other before all the hype. I'm asked what I really want and what suits me, and they do their best to call when it's available and from my side,, patience has played a good part. May not be too good at that at times but it has paid off. And I'm not forced to buy anything I may not like or use.
I know it's not like that most of the time, and it's real mean of your AD to tease you with a black knowing you would like a white 😬 here's to hoping you find the SA you jive with and get the Rolex with all the nice pleasant feelings of getting a new watch 🍀

The ad moved his boutique a few times in line with Rolex imperatives to be in best areas many years already, my daughter and her hubby bought their first house in Markham far from us but 20minutes from my old ad’s boutique. I visited him recently to catch up, he remembers every item that I have ever bought from him including the gold and steel Daytona that my colleague purchased so long ago.
Not really interested in Rolex any longer but have been unsuccessful sourcing an Omega Silver Snoopy, after reading about your Daytona as a possible exit, I have given some thoughts to concluding my lifelong hobby. Sadly lasted only until I finished my morning espresso, haha. ❤️

I love two tone Daytonas for all the reasons you listed. The white with gold accents dial is easy to read and has just a soupçon of bling. Great choice. Here’s my two white dials. A Santos de Cartier and a AVI-8 Tuskegee Airmen tribute. Happy Easter to all!

Congratulations on the Daytona! An amazing chronograph, wears unusually well on wrist (Rolex cases always did regardless of size). One of salesman at the Columbus AD had one and was kind enough to let me try it on…I’m now 100% convinced it’s actually more like 39mm instead of the advertised 40mm (just like the 16570 Explorer II). Once you get past the hype (and grey market prices…argh!) it truly is an amazing watch!
