Should I wait for more METAS editions or pull the trigger on this

I went in and tried this bad boy on.

Its great. Lug to lug for my wrist was a tad big, but the bezel and bracelet was amazing.

Is it worth buying or should I wait in the hope that they release more METAS variations in the future. I would prefer a black dial etc.

What do you all think!?

You said it yourself, the L2L is too big and the color isn't what you want. You should not spend several thousands of dollars/euros on a watch that doesn't fit your expectations. There are so many options out there that no one should compromise at this price.

Who cares if it loses 1 second during the day or 5... At the end of the day it goes back in the watch box with the sisters to power down and you'll have to wind it and set the time again the next time you pick it up. Accuracy is so overrated. 🤷

Thats fair enough to be honest. You are not wrong about alot here. Thanks for your comment!!

Wait.

Its a lot of money to spend on something that's not exactly what you want.

The hitchhiking analogy often applies to this hobby: wait for THE ride that takes you to your end destination 🤙❤️

I am one of those people who can’t get past the hour hands on Tudor, but looked at them (through a jewellers window) and them come across better than in photos.

·

Wait for the newer models. Tudor sad there will more models coming with METAS. And considering the BB58 hasn't received an update yet, Tudor may announce a BB58 with similar specs and maybe with that nice jubilee bracelet option too.

Choose a size that fits you niceley and don't rush into the purchase especially considering the price point.

I wanted a Panerai oh so much - when I found one that was at a great price, I didn’t like the way it sat on the wrist. Never say never, but I could easily have wasted the money. Instead I bought my lovely SuoerOcean a couple of months later and don’t regret it one bit.

I’ve bought a number of cheap watches on a whim - but my Breitling was a three day decision where I tried it on multiple times (loved it the first time too). Don’t splash thousands on a watch that isn’t “the one”. Buy yourself a new beater or something eBay just to scratch the itch if you need to - but save the big bucks for something that really works for you.

Would wait for another model that works for you. I’m personally waiting for Metas update for the BB GMT

I agree with the lot of comments so far. Don’t get something that you semi-like. Get something that you love and adore — especially considering that $4550 is a ton of money. Keep saving or get something else. Tudor is going to continue to produce watches. METAS certification for all Tudors is simply a matter of time. Who knows, by that time there will be a model that’s absolutely perfect for you. But don’t get a watch that you don’t totally love.

Yep - I thought they were ugly until I saw the watches in person. Then I saw them in person and started to really appreciate them. I vastly prefer them to Mercedes hands, personally.

This will be standard forTudor and we can expect more in future. But will take some time to switch from current offering. So it comes down to what you want and how long are you willing to wait

·

I’d say wait, and gamble that a METAS-certified Black Bay 58 (and/or 54) will be out by the end of next year.

I’m in a similar boat. I’m narrowing down to the Black Bay Pro as my next watch, but I really want METAS certification too*. That METAS motivation almost caused me to buy a Black Bay Ceramic a few weeks ago when I was in Japan. But I’m glad I didn’t because, as awesome as that watch is (it’s great; especially the blacked out movement), an all blacked out watch isn’t for me, and I’m pretty sure I would’ve regretted the purchase (but if you do want a blacked out watch, I highly recommend it).

*To those who say it’s unnecessary, of course not. But just like everything else in this hobby, it’s not about need, it’s about want, and I want METAS certification. I also reserve the right to change my mind about how necessary it is if something else catches my attention that has no chance of being METAS certified 🙂

·

I had the same experience. It shouldn't fit my 6 1/2 inch wrist, but it looked great! I was immediately taken. Even more than the BB54. But it wouldn't hurt to wait. The watch market is going down. Tudor grey market prices can drop 40%.

The fun in collecting, for me, is the chase. If you aren’t happy when you get it home, it is a waste of time … piece.

I'm waiting for the case to get slimmed. But yes patience all the way

Honestly when I first got into watches I bought a SARB017 after heavy debate to see if I should spend $400 on a watch and order it from Japan.

I quickly wanted something more luxurious and fell in love with Grand Seiko and the snowflake. But I wanted the spring drive to have the power reserve on the back, I wanted it to be thinner and possibly hand wound (didn't even think they had this config to my knowledge in 2017), and I wanted it to be in the 44gs style with the double Indicies at 12 vs the wedge shape. I have had so many opportunities to buy the snowflake and others but I knew I should wait for the watch I wanted even if it didn't exist yet.

Long story short, GS debuted my dream Grand Seiko last year SBGY011 and now I'm saving up for it. Not saying to way 5 years but just know patience pays off.

Cheers 🥂
