NWA: A Moto Inspired Meca-Quartz

Today, I'm welcoming a new watch into my collection.

I've lived in a couple different parts of Texas during my lifetime and I'm currently located in Dallas. I guess I'm a sucker for sunshine...

After jumping into the watch world recently, and WC even more recently, I learned about a microbrand located near me in Dallas, TX. In the spirit of supporting local brands and perpetuating my interest in all things watch related, I have been meaning to stop by their store front (turns out it's mere minutes from where I stay).

When I popped into the store I was welcomed by @TimeToDesign himself, who was my real introduction to the brand here on Watch Crunch. After learning a bit about the history of the brand, I had a full try-on experience over a whiskey from a local distillery (which was great).

I learned about the backstory and design of each of their watches one by one. To be totally honest... I was expecting to walk out with a new watch before I got there, but at this point in the conversation I had fully committed to the purchase in my head. I was blown away by the experience.

The watch that really caught my eye was this Moto Meca-quartz. If you haven't noticed, I do love a gold watch. The real charm of this watch is it's unique case shape... and the fact that it fits pretty well on my smaller wrist. There are other little details about the design that I fell in love with like the mask that visually connects the two subdials, the pushers whose design references pistons, and the hour and minute hands that are sectioned into three. Overall, I just kept going back to this watch, so it's now going to proudly take a place in my collection. If you're in the area, I'd highly recommend stopping by.

P.S. I got a peek at the upcoming GMT, and I can't lie... that's going to be dangerous for my addiction haha.

Also, I couldn't resist the urge to pick up this solar powered chronograph they had on sale at the time. Excited to have some fun with straps on this one.

Cheers!

Thanks! Me too. That's what caught my eye initially

It was a pleasure meeting you @garythegreat ! Thanks for stopping by and allowing me to take up all that time out of your day. Meeting new people and just having conversations is by far the best thing about all this. Moreover, being a part of a platform like WC to be able to connect with people is that much cooler! Enjoy your new hardware!

This is just great. Love the story here and it felt as if I was with you on this trip!

From what I keep seeing about this brand so far, they just seem to be awesome and the watches look great. So very jealous you got to stop by the store.

I got my eye on that GMT...did you get any more info on it while there? 😂

Thanks for sharing your day with us!

Haha... not much of a writer but I tried to paint the picture.

I didn't get any new info on the GMT, but I did hear a little bit about the design process which was cool.

It's a very unique watch and the case is beautifully designed. I'm looking forward to having it on the wrist and getting more familiar with it.

agree...anything 70's style

I think you meant to say mecha-quartz instead of meca-quartz.... that thing is massive and im certain it transforms into a robot

They say the camera adds ten pounds haha

It's actually only a 40mm and wears pretty similar to a 42mm round case... I think the photos might be skewing the proportions a bit

·

Beautiful! The gold-tone looks rich but subdued…and the case depth suggests a formidable robustness that is not over-stated.

Great story, especially the surprise ending where you bought more than one watch.

I wish I had a watch manufacturer near me...except that the watches would all have stupid palmettos all over them.

Definitely! Feels nice in the hand and on the wrist

I surprised myself when I left with more than one watch... so it only felt appropriate.

Although, are we truly surprised?
