Speedmaster price increase
Hey there!
I was going to my local store who sells some vintage and second hand watches. A Speedy professionnal moonwatch from 2005 was there, great conditition, although some obvious scratches on the glass. Price tag: 38,000DKK which is roughly 5,100 €. Has the price gone up crazy the past 2 years? I remember an RRSP below 5,000€ back in 2018 when I got the SMP instead...

I seem to recall the same type of thing. I've only been collecting since late 2018, and when I first started becoming interested in picking up a Speedy Professional, they were selling on our local watch forum for around $4K CDN, for the full set in great condition with warranty remaining. That ship has sailed.

There is probably the global inflation that accounts for it, but the global demand seems to be the reason too. Investors like Konvi that are coming up are also dangerous for the industry. Watches are not intended to remain in a safe and speculate on... they tell the time
I bought my Speedy in January 2020 (new from a European grey dealer) and paid 4400 USD. With the introduction of the co-axial 3861 prices of the older 1861 Speedies increased.

wow... this starts to look like last year's crypto. I really like the Speedy but for obvious price reasons now I doubt I'll ever get one
