Cheap Date

I own a few Seikos and this is probably my favorite. I had one years ago and sold it because I wasn't a fan of the movement. I have become more tolerent in my old age , have learned a thing or two about how to sync the watch, with no back hacking, to an accurate time source, and have since retired so a few seconds here and there don't really matter. Picked another up  about a year ago and love it.

Iconic bang for the buck Seiko 5.

And there is the new 39.5mm version that was just announced.  List price is $275.  Currently on sale at Greentoe for $168.  The sale price is about double the price for the model shown above.  The new version does have a movement that hacks.

I hear you. For me, the more I look into it, the more appreciative I am of Seiko’s movements. One thing that irks me is when Seiko watches aren’t considered quality by some people, but many microbrands use Seiko movements in their watches.

I don't think the Seiko movements are in question much. Conversely, problems with bezel alignments, finishing, straps and bracelets, etc, are what I hear many people complaining about. The QC issue is really on many affordable Seiko models, and I'm shocked that the company isn't grabbling the problems by the horns.

Absolutely love mine!! Excellent value and pairs well with many straps.

Have recommended this model to my boss for her 10 year old grandson. Is just classic and a value. Great entry to mechanical watches.
