Arcus Mesos Monopusher

I was really excited about this release by a local Canadian watchmaker, Arcus: A monopusher (modified sea-gull movement) for under $1k called the Mesos. Unfortunately, there was not enough interest for them to go ahead with production.

I wish there was more support for small businesses trying to do innovative things.

That is a really nice design.  I currently have one watch with the ST19 movement, and while it seems to be OK, it also feels "fragile".  I recently ordered another ST19 based watch from Studio Underd0g, but won't be receiving it until next spring. I was hesitant to order that one based on the ST19 movement, but felt that the design was compelling enough to allow me to overlook the movement. I'm not sure that I'd be interested in adding a third ST19 to my collection, but I do really like the design of the Mesos.

I think the issue with the Arcus Mesos is that a brand-new company wanted to sell watches based on a modified ST19 at about $1K USD a pop.

I liked the idea of the watch, but I'm not prepared to drop that kind of cash on one. My hold-up was mostly based on the fact it's modified to be a monopusher, meaning you can't just replace the movement when something goes wrong...

Fair enough! All good points that I agree with. I live in Calgary, though, so wanted to support the local business.

I was tempted to go for a dual pusher model, but it was clear that the price was too high for most.
