Controversial? Help me here

I feel bad that I’m definitely missing something.l because I don’t really like submariner watches. For me it’s like olives. I want to like them, I really do but they leave me cold.

How dare you say that about olives!! I eat them by the jar, gorgeous!

But I agree on the sub, deadly dull.

You must be under 60. Apparently these things were really revolutionary and cutting edge sometime well before my birth. It's also unfair to blame the original (oops, highly disputable anyway) for spawning legions of cookie-cutter clones. But can one really be unfair to Rolex?

I spent nearly three decades on this planet before I liked olives. It may be a few decades more until I like G-Shocks. No need to fall in line and follow the crowd.

There is no reason to need to like what others do. It’s your money, your wrist. Life is too short to live to please others.

Your are zigging while most of the world is zagging. Good for you.

Me; I can't be persuaded to like California dials or snowflake hands and lots of people are absolutely gaga over them.

There are so many watches out there; why fall in line with most of humanity when it's just fashion?

I know. I try them again every year in case my taste changes. I do like tapenade though so I’m not a complete barbarian

I am under 60 but I’m not going to say by how much …

It may be that there are so many cheap copies (by this I mean REALLY cheap, under £30) that i can’t see beyond that. A but like LVMH bags. Most of the time I assume they are fakes

Kind of you to say. However, I suspect that I’d fall into line if I had a much bigger budget for watches

A year ago, I'd have agreed with this.

Now, after seeing the wealth of watches available, seeing the Rolex AD game and marketing strategy, the only way I'd ever own one is if it was gifted to me by someone I didn't want to offend if I sold it.
