Typo?

I like Montblanc. I know that a lot of people don't feel like they're a true watch company because they started with pens and cufflinks and I can respect that.

I really like the 1858 Minerva Monopusher Chronograph, at least from an aesthetic standpoint. I don't know much about its specs and I've never seen one live and in person. But even as a fan, I saw this in GQ

And thought to myself "Did they put the comma in the wrong place? That has to be a typo right?"

I mean come on....

Edit/update:

Hahaha I now feel like a complete a$$hole for posting this. My novice is showing. It shows how little I know about watches. I had never heard of Minerva. I spent some time last night and this morning reading about them. If you didn't know about them either, they make movements like this

They have been making watches since the mid 1800s with heritage out the wazoo. They've also been know for they're precision, specifically with chronographs. They are Haute Horology.

I learn something new all the time from WC. Between the Minerva movement and the limited edition nature of the watches, I now have a better understanding about the price tag. I still think it's too much money for a watch LOL but I understand better.

Love Montblanc...read that earlier and did a double take!

The link explains why,

What you are buying is a hand finished Minerva movement cased inside a Montblanc case with a dial influenced by Minerva.

Like has been stated the Minerva movement branded watches are pricey. I think all of them are limited runs and it is an exclusive movement.

That's super cool and interesting. I didn't know anything about Minerva. It makes a little more sense now.

I should have educated myself a little better. I don't know anything about Minerva. It's an awesome watch. If I ever get F you money I might buy one.

They make awesome watches, and yes, as others pointed out a hand assembled and finished Minerva movement is going to be expensive and all things considered, it is not out of line price wise, if not a deal in comparison, which I know sounds strange for a $35K watch.

Yeah, to a large extent you’re paying for the Minerva craftsmanship; who are housed fairly modestly in Villeret:

AND you’r paying for the quite spectularly expanded Montblanc villa in Le Locle ;-)

Admittedly, not a big fan of the Monopusher’s design (the light blue plus the yellow/creamy subdials cheapen it imho and I don’t like numerals being cut off) but I sort of get the pricetag.

This is a minerva chronograph, this is the price you pay.

I am constantly surprised at the nature of watches. They are all basically the same, yet all so strikingly different. Opinions about watches are the same. For example, I really enjoy that light blue plus the yellow creamy subdials. Overall I'm not a fan of chronographs. I find them busy, less legible and unnecessary. But I'm drawn to this watch. Unfortunately I'll never be able to afford it. But at least now after some time on the internet I understand why.

Montblanc makes some great watches. Their high end ones are jam up. I suspect in the future they will be a lot more popular. They also make great pens!

There's a piece of me that hopes you're wrong and they don't see more popularity in the future. Only because I'm selfish and I'd like one and popularity only drives the price up.
