How important are the strap and clasp to you?

Hey guys, how much do you pay attention to the strap and clasp on a watch? Would you buy a watch that you fell in love with even though you didn't like the strap or clasp?

There are 3 questions in your post 😂 Is the poll referring to the 2nd or 3rd one?

You are absolutely right 🤣🤦‍♂️

The poll is referring to the last one. 🫡

Always change it anyway.

Never keep anything on its standard bracelet or strap.

The strap/bracelet isn’t a big factor in my purchase decision. I love using quick change straps to mix things up. A nice strap or bracelet is a plus. But ultimately it’s all about the watch itself.

Thanks for this inspiring thoughts.

It surely would be an interesting next poll. 🤜🤛

I immediately remove the strap for a bespoke strap because factory ones are too long. I am more picky about bracelets but worst case scenario I can always swap the clasp for an aftermarket one.

A nice strap or bracelet will make me more interested in a brand generally. But if I love a specific watch and the price is reasonable the strap just isn’t a deal breaker.

I'm a bracelet guy. And because the factory ones are always too large, I surely need to remove some links to adjust for my wrist.

I love this process, especially the fine adjustment for the perfect fit 😇

I totally feel you.

I like originality, so it's important to me. I know it's personal preference, but I don't get swapping out a good quality original bracelet for a cheap nato etc. But hey, it's a good job we are all different 😁.

Yes, I totally agree. 🤠

If on bracelet, huge consideration. Otherwise, not at all

·

I buy many new watches regardless of what strap/bracelet it comes with

Yes, I'm buying watches because I like the style. Mostly the bracelet matches very nice.

·

Well i am a multi seiko owner 😄

As an almost exclusively metal bracelet guy, I have to say that I don’t even look at watches that don’t have great bracelets. It’s almost equally important as the watch for me. Good solid bracelet with micro adjustment on-the-fly is mandatory.

I'm in the opposite camp. Unless the manufacturer offers a long strap or the strap fits to begin with, I opt to omit a watch and strap that doesn't fit.

You miss a lot of good watches that way tho , & changing a strap/bracelet takes a couple of minutes. Don't limit yourself! 😉

We all have our rules. Mine really isn't limiting. If I really love the watch and they don't offer extra long straps, I just buy the bracelet version.

That is why I have so many Tudors on straps; they have extra long straps available.

BTW, the main "problem" I have with aftermarket straps is finding one of decent quality. 😉

·

I change the strap on 99% of my watches so I don’t care about the stock strap. Shoot, I’d buy without a stock strap if it made the purchase cheaper.

·

Would depend on the price

I definitely know what you mean.

Unfortunately none of my watches have an on-the-fly adjustment. This feature is super nice though. 🤩

I've never really fell in love with a watch lol but if I like it a lot regardless of the strap / bracelet I'll buy it and find an oyster style bracelet with curved endlinks and manipulate the bracelet to fit. I'm an oyster bracelet dude 😎 🤙🏽

It’s a game changer, you’ll see.

·

If possible, always buy with bracelet. Curved ends are not the thing you can easily find for every watch.

Recently I held an Omega in my hands with an on-the-fly adjustment clasp. It makes the watch itself even cooler.

It does. Great bracelet lifts the watch to a totally new level.

A 'cheap' bracelet and clasp can sometimes 'ruin' an decent watch.
