So... I got my gf her first automatic
Here's the story. 2 years ago, She was looking at watches for work and has been looking around for quite some time. Can't decide on what to buy. She has been looking at Tudor, Breitling, Omega, Tag, etc etc.
So, me being me (a cheapskate), got her a Seiko 5 (with a 3rd party leather strap).
It's her first automatic so I chose a black dial which can go with any clothes option. Its got a workhorse movement (4R36). Servicing will be very affordable compared to luxury watches. Even if the movement dies, I can still find a replacement. A 100m WR is great for everyday wear too.
Not to mention that servicing the watch every 3-5 years is not a hassle. A great starter automatic IMO.
