Everyone talks about the watches they wear for life's amazing moments - the birth of a child, an amazing holiday, a wedding day. But not every watch is destined for such glory.
I pose the question - do you have a watch you wear during the tough times?
A few months ago I happened to wear the pictured watch throughout a nasty bout of COVID. I then decided to wear the same watch through a difficult period at work, during which I had to reluctantly fire an underperforming employee in my team, something I never had to do before. The watch isn't noteworthy - a RDUNAE R2X, a Willard clomage (though one I'm rather fond of) and my one and only foray into AliExpress territory. But somehow it provided a measure of comfort during these ordeals.
Rather than evoking bad memories, wearing the watch reminds me of how it was a faithful companion during those dark hours. It got me thinking - this might make a decent post on WC! So, am I alone or do you have a watch like this in your collection?

Glad you recovered well. And please, no need to apologize for the watch you wore through the tough period-- RDUNAE R2X -- as not being noteworthy. You love it, and it was a faithful companion for you. That's what matters.
For me, whether I face tough battles, or have joyful celebrations -- in a day, a week, a month, or even a season, all my watches accompany me. I continue to rotate the watches I wear each day.
Great question and cool perspective. Those hard times you describe are no fun but also invaluable because of what they teach us. I hadn’t really thought about it but I suppose my Timex Waterbury Chrono would be that watch.
I got it when I was first getting into watches (although I didn’t know I was going down the rabbit hole at the time) because I wanted a “normal” watch so I could stop being distracted by my phone and less overwhelmed. At the time I was learning how to handle a debilitating anxiety disorder and things got really rough. Happy to say that was a few years ago and while I still have days of struggle they’re waaaay fewer and farther between and I have gained healthy perspective. I bought this watch at what would be the beginning of turning the corner and it’s been with me ever since. Hasn’t seen a ton of wrist time lately but think I might bust it out today. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing and I'm glad you got through and made it to a better place. It got me thinking - it's not that watches like this remind us of our struggles, it's that they remind us about how we overcame them.
My best watch, Seamaster, because it cheers me up and tho it's only a small inanimate object it makes me feel special whenever I wear it, which is the whole point we're addicted to these lovely little machines.😁👍🏻👍🏻
This logic sounds like something from a Seinfeld episode. George expects to get fired, and preemptively puts on his layoff-watch. I love it!

Now you've done it. Any minute now we'll be seeing "Show us your favorite layoff-watch" posts.
That is a bold and rugged looking watch. No wonder Covid was scared of it.

That is a great story CheapH. Glad you're doing well. Yeah, bust it out today!
When I'm sick I tend to grab my Gshock 5610 the most. it's lightweight and that Illuminator function comes handy when you wake up at 3am.
Great topic idea. I would reach for my Nite MX10. No winding, tritium illumination and 100 meters water resistance if I find myself on a gurney in the rain.
