Vostoks just stopped moving!?

I purchased 2 Vostok from an official online dealer (not eBay) and both stopped working after about a year! They just stopped moving!

I tried to contact the dealer who, apparently, offers repair and service on the website - but received no response.

I am thinking of selling them, on eBay as - not working or for parts -.

  • Have you had similar experiences?

  • Do you have any advice on this?

  • What would you do in my place?

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Remove the caseback and look inside!

A have vostoks for years and never had problems, i even tinker alone whith those and manage to set it +2sec. 👍

I mean, it's a Vostok, your local blacksmith should be able to fix it!

Perhaps there a Russian orthodox holiday?

I have a Vostok for a little more time then that and have had 0 issues.

I would continue to try the website if you are bot will to open the Watch your self and do some investigating

In your place that’s just what I would do but I have taken apart movements and re assembled them as a hobby for fun so I have confidence to do that.

I own two 25-ish year old Boctoks and while they are far from the best running watches I own, they still do run, and that's after sitting in a sock drawer unworn and unwound for at least a decade and a half! 😮

Good luck man. I hope ya get 'em fixed ...

I’ve had similar issues. I’ve found that if kept on a watch wonder, even in different directions and speeds, my Vostok will just not wind by the rotor. I’ve adjusted the watch myself and while the time keeping is OK at best, if I don’t manually wind it and then give it a good flick of the wrist, it won’t run.

It could just be a case of dried oils/lubricant from sitting too long in the dealer's storage. Have it checked by a trusted watchmaker. I've had the same problem with pricier brands bought NOS! Nothing a seasoned watchmaker can't fix. 😊

My Amphibia does that every now and then, especially when I don’t wear it and I just hand wind it. Wind it for a few turns and then hit it softly against a pillow or something similar and it should start running again.

I bought two new Vostok before the war and they both run perfectly. Did you buy some old used thing?

·

I have 2-both a few years old.

Worn occasionally and zero problems.
