I mostly collect tool watches. Big fan of the 24hr (one dial rotation per day) and GMTs. Luminosity is my catnip. Also like unique pieces and some vintage stuff.
For me the coolest watch has to be an older, purist model of the Glycine Airman. Pretty standard at a glance, but very unique once you pay attention to it. As far as brands go, I agree with many commenters on Oris. They build understated quality into damn near every watch.

I have had a few people comment on it over the years. I have a current co-worker who hates NATO bands on watches and she always comments when I wear them. Something along the lines of, "I liked the watch you wore Monday better than that one, it looked more professional." I always chuckle either way.
