Fake Rolex
You guys are probably gonna hate me for this but the first watch that got me into collecting watches is this fake Rolex Datejust. I know this isn't a nice story but as someone living from paycheck to paycheck, I wanted to have a "nice" watch to wear and the first thing that came to mind was a fake Rolex.
It's a good-looking piece but I kinda felt bad that I'm wearing a fake on my wrist afterwards. I would still want it to be part of my collection though, just to mark the start of my watch collection.
A good outcome of this though is how owning my first automatic watch prompted me to research about watches I can buy for around the same price I bought this watch for. Now I know lots of other good and legitimate brands in the same price range that I can buy and collect, such as Invicta, Vostok, Stuhrling, Seiko, and many more.
I have ordered the next watch in my collection -- a legitimate one -- and I'm really excited. I am also new to this platform having created my account only a few minutes ago. I'm looking forward to knowing more about watches from this community which is looking super insightful so far.

You will not truly enjoy a watch knowing it is a fake as you realized it yourself. If the looks of a Rolex are watch one wants, I’d go for a San Martin homage to the 1953 Rolex Submariner. An homage to a watch that one will never be able to buy is a great choice
