Ixor day date mechanical watch from the fifties - A now defunct French assembler

Hi guys and gals, I bought this pristine mechanical watch at auction earlier this year, and it's only recently that I started to wonder about the brand. So far my research suggests that the company was active between the forties and the fifties, the calibre 236 came from a manufacturer named Lorsa. Also, the brand's founder seems to have been a decorated world war two hero according to the French defence ministry. I think there might be room to write a compelling story, so I intend to do just that. I would kindly ask you to send me any details you might have on this brand, please. I thank you all in advance.

P.S.:feel free to comment on the watch, it comes at a denty 36mm, 18 mm lug width and the case is gold-plated.

Just one more thing, people stay classy!

Thanks mate, will do

I'm guessing one is supposed to line up the bezel (which is the day) with date "1." For example, this month, August, begins on a Tuesday, so line up the first "M" after the first "L" (for Mardi) then the rest of the days can be read correctly. In the picture, moving the bezel one click to the right would set the entire month for August.

Lundi = Monday

Mardi = Tuesday

Mercredi = Wednesday

Jeudi = Thursday

Vendredi = Friday

Samedi = Saturday

Dimanche = Sunday

It also has that cool date pointer like the Oris Big Crown I admire. What a beautiful watch! 😍 (Je parle Français un peu mais pas bien.)

I have seen a few Ixor and they are all as unusual as yours. Nice pick up.

You got it right, great French skills mate! It's a simple yet ingenious way to bring such a complication about.

I just want to know what that had again ‘choc’ to be so anti it…🤣

First, the watch is fairly old, and, second, according to many of the watches of the era I've seen that antichoc mention was commonplace. I would presume that it might stem from the movement fragility and some sensitivity to shocks. Your guess is as good as mine.

Cool piece, congrats!

·

It’s unique, it’s vintage, and I likey!

·

Never seen/heard of it before - great find though! What's going on with the bezel?

·

Basically, it's a rotating bezel used to indicate the day of the week in French.

·

I love this type of date complication. Much better than a date window, for me.

·

I was kinda making a joke….it was admittedly not funny 😆 but thank you 🙏🏼

Exactly!! 😂😂😂
