Given up. For now.

Three watches deep into the carrot dangling tactics and I've given up on this particular dealer. The straw that broke the camels back was the unknown. If they guaranteed that after purchasing a certain number of watches that I would get my goal watch I'd be all in. Probably is, the carrot never seems to stop getting dangled. That and some misinformation didn't help. I can't say too much but...

I feel your pain. I’ve had mixed successes with ADs for Rolex. No success in Oz. 50/50 in the UK. Fortunately I’ve moved on to other brands and the only Rolexes I’m interested in are past models so will have to go the second hand or auctions route. There are some good second hand/grey dealers in Oz but you will pay a premium for their cut on recent/new models.

Why should they guarantee anything when you already proved that it was unnecessary since you already committed yourself and you are buying things you don't like or need?

Anyway, it sucks to be taken for a ride.

·

I'm bored of seeing posts about folk buying stuff they don't necessarily want just to climb an invisible ladder at their local dealer. It's ridiculous.

·

Its hard for me to wrap my mind around 2 customers have 50k for said watch. If I were the Dealer who ever offered 1st would be the buyer. I don't understand all of the underlying reasons to be able to be the buyer.

·

I bought a Parnis copy instead - looks pretty fine on a black rubber strap. I'm not going to play those silly games. And can I live without a Rolex Kermit? Hell, yes!

·

I think in a couple of years the Rolex AD games will be much less. Rolex is ramping up production to fill in some of the excess demand.

·

Fuck rolex. You can always come back to it. There's so much more to have fun with

·

maybe try different AD

Mate seriously?…MEL or SYD?

·

These guys are gatekeepers at an exclusive club that doesn’t exist. Go to a ‘club’ that doesn’t play this game.

Mate seriously?…MEL or SYD?

Can't say.

It’s these games they play which I hope will come and bite them one day. Luckily when I wanted to buy my Explorer, I had already fulfilled their stupid conditions by having bought a JLC Reverso. Though someone else I know had to buy another watch costing 4,000€ before they’d sell him a GMT. He sold on the other watch, unworn, at a small loss.
